Melanie Caldicott (6 KP) rated Out of Sight in Books

Very disappointing book. The premise interested me and I was enticed by the blurb of this book. However, I found myself reading pages and pages of Leonie mooning over Patrice which went on far too long. There lacked substance to the explanation behind Patrick's past and I felt the conclusion of the book was empty and hollow. Hate reading books which you keep reading hoping for some twist or redeeming moment which just never appears.

My Unpopular Opinion
Set in prehistoric times, a young man has to survive on his own after getting injured during a hunt. In the process of trying to stay alive, he ends up befriending a lone wolf. I was hoping to like this movie a lot more, but it seemed to drag in too many spots for me.
Acting: 10
Beginning: 10
Characters: 3
Keda (Kodi Smit-McPhee) wasn’t really cutting it for me as far as characters go. When you’re talking about one person to carry a movie, I was hoping for someone with a bit more charisma. The wolf was a cute addition, but the combo wasn’t quite enough to make me care more about the story.
Cinematography/Visuals: 8
Conflict: 4
There wasn’t a whole lot of action going on, at least not enough to keep me entertained. Yes, it’s a story around survival and that concept itself should be riveting enough, but, sadly, it wasn’t. There was too much of nothing happening for too long of stretches. I kept waiting for things to develop and, by the time I started to feel fireworks, it ended being a small fizzle.
Entertainment Value: 8
Memorability: 3
Pace: 3
Pretty slow as far as survival movies go. I kept waiting for it to pick up and, while it had a few shining moments here and there, it was pretty tame for the most part. Y’all, I tried, I really did. Just wasn’t working for me.
Plot: 6
Resolution: 8
Overall: 63
Don’t take my opinion as God when it comes to Alpha. There are plenty out there that adore this movie. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them. It’s way too slow and uninteresting for me to recommend.

3.5 stars.
I love the cover of this book and thought there would be a scene in the story with her wearing it and there is in a way but not how I pictured it. I liked the whole good and evil of the characters, though I wont give too much away by elaborating.
I loved Arriane and Penn.
One thing that seemed rather strange to me was how he never really showed any interest in her but she couldn't help but be drawn to him...

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated Downton Abbey (2019) in Movies

I wanted a touch more tragedy
Downton Abbey the TV series was incredible, I don't care how uncool people think i am for saying it. Its a spot on piece of British History with strong characters and a great cast.
The film in the same vein although was a little too nice. There was no undercurrent of darkness which stopped this getting full marks. The queen an King are coming to visit Downton along with their horrible staff who are trying to make preparations for the royal visit.
This movie is still wonderful and deserves props for highlighting the backwards thinking of homophobia and although a great film i was hoping for a little more.

A incredibly captivating story of one girl's adventure of finding who she truly is meant to be.
I was given a read and review copy of Essence by Hayley Gabrielle herself for my full honest opinion.
I absolutely blew through this novel in a matter of 24hrs. I was hooked from the very beginning and I must say, this was one heck of a debut novel! I loved it with a burning passion. The story was there, the background was there, for as much as I could see, there were not any noticeable grammatical errors, the plot is striking profound, and I will definitely be rereading this novel in the very near future!
Can I talk about how much I love Thorne? I really love him and honestly, I really wanted him and Abbey to be together. He deserves love too, even though he's arrogant as all get out. I cried actual tears at the final scene with the portal. An incredibly sad ending and I can not wait to see where Abbey's story continues!

Melody Womack (32 KP) rated Riverdale in TV

Dramatic Cheesy Goodness
I love a good teen drama, and I love a good reimagining. Riverdale gave me both. I love the unexpected character arches, the actors are all great picks for the characters they play. There was a bit too much going on toward the end of Season one, but I could still follow. I'll keep watching as long as new episodes keep coming.

I couldn’t finish or even read much of it. It was too much darkness and violence for me to be able to read it.
I tried to push through the first bit but I couldn’t do it and I thought why spend my time on something that clearly isn’t going to work for me when there are other books that will be great for me.

Honestly, I wanted so much more from this one. I waited months for it to come to theaters, then rushed out to see it, only to feel a little meh afterwards. The story itself was good and kept me invested, but the horror just wasn't really there for me. I felt it relied too much on jump scares and the rest of what was supposed to be scary felt corny to me especially the ending. It was fine, but I probably won't be watching it again.

I wanted to be able to give it more stars, but the narrative jumped back and forth through time a bit too much for me. Because of this, there was some repetition that disrupted my focus and took away from the narrative. I love Trevor Noah and enjoyed hearing his stories from his childhood. I just wish the book had been better organized.

Not overly impressed with this
It started well but somewhere around the 40% mark I just put it down and didn't want to pick it up for several days. I'd lost interest. Then I just decided to go for it. And meh, still not too impressed with it. I can't quite put a finger on it but there was just sosomething...
