I received an arc copy from Netgalley of this book for an open and honest review.
I was surprised to find that I really liked this book, more than I expected too. It was well written and interesting. The plot was current and hits home as to just how much work goes on behind the scenes to thwart terrorism and I love how 2 different departments worked together. Its scary and real about radicalisation and I was plesed to see there were no type casts in this story.
There were a few things that made this a 4 star rating- in some areas I felt the story was perhaps a little rushed (near the beginning) and some parts could have been more polished. As I was reading this I felt I had missed something (I didn't know there was a prequel to this) I didn't know the whole background story which threw me off.
But the storyline was greatc and kept me hooked :)

I really enjoyed some elements of this story like the background, the runes and the way she killed people...and the whole reluctant attraction. Sometimes there was just a little too much description for me though but i did like it.

Just okay.
There were 2 VERY graphic sex scenes in this movie that 1) went on way too long for an action movie and 2) were way too graphic for movie. The fight scenes were good but I would probably never watch it again.

I would have liked a better ending. The whole movie was go go go then the ending was just "blah".

Too much too fast
I really wanted to like this movie but there was just too much going on and too much introduced too quick. I feel like this movie would have been a better movie a few years from now after a couple Standalone characters have had their movie. They tried to capitalize on the Batman v. Superman movie but ended up losing the point.

"I was a young, precocious seventeen-year-old and this was what I listened to all the time on my Walkman. I had grown up with it. There were deep musicians around us all the time, painters and people into jazz, so I knew I had a feeling for it. The flat was a hub of bohemian appreciation. I learnt that John Coltrane was better than everyone else because he was melodic. Some of the atonal ones, that was all a bit too much. That’s what was played here all the time. I moved out of home when I was 16 and we had a house in Shepherd’s Bush. A shithole, one of the rooms was the dustbin, and that was what I listened to, to the absolute horror of everyone else there, smoking their shit spliffs."

Was looking around for something to watch, was going to watch the series Hanna then noticed that there was originally a film. Throughly enjoyed it, great atmospheric music too although I don't normally notice it if I am engrossed in a film. The film is open ended so there could have been a second one but I presume that will be covered in the series. Not sure if I will watch the series now that I know the general storyline unless it is expanded on. Would recommend the film.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Everyone was jumping on the bandwagon when the movie was released & nothing makes me avoid a book like a slew of people reading it because of a movie. But I have to say I really enjoyed reading it. I guess I was expecting some big, weepy, woe is me tale. Sure, there were parts that were along that vein but as a whole it was much more about power, taking control of your life, & moving forward. There is no way in hell this girl could do the hike Cheryl undertakes. She is one brave woman & I was relieved that she was eventually able to see that about herself too.
