Strangers thrown together must endure a gruelling and interminable ordeal - I'm not talking about Idris Elba and Kate Winslet, but cinema audiences who unsuspectingly sit down to watch The Mountain Between Us.
Reasonably competent, I suppose, as a piece of storytelling, but really, really dull and predictable - takes a while to get going, and then another while to conclude once the actual story is finished. Also contains the leading candidate for Worst Sex Scene of the year - although who knows, maybe frostbite, malnutrition and incipient gangrene is just the thing to get most people in the mood, I don't know (it's been a while). Not actively bad, just very undistinguished.

Recycled Action Sequences
Never been a fan of the F&F movies and I wasnt expecting to like this...and surprisingly thats exactly what i got.The dialogue between Hobbs and shaw was ridiculous at best, cringeworthy at its worst. The action sequences were just the same old same old, some of it belonged in one of those bargain basement 90's straight to DVD action films.
Those 2 big name "cameos" added nothing to the story much and how such a wonderful actor in Idris Elba ended up playing such a predictable bad guy amazes me.The only good thing about this movie was the samoan family and the beautiful island itself. How this was a big hit at the box office I will never know.

One of the best Marvel films
This is definitely the best Thor film by far, and up there as being one of the best Marvel films in general.
It's so much fun, and the humour in it is brilliant. It's very funny, and Korg has to be my new favourite character. The action scenes were marvellous and the sfx too. The whole 80s neon theme works really well, especially with the awesome soundtrack. The plot was interesting and serious, but with the humour in it felt a lot more lighthearted than other recent Marvel films. This seemed much more along the same lines as the Guardians of the Galaxy films.
I loved some of the new characters like Valkyrie and the Grandmaster, although my only negative is that I felt Karl Urban and Idris Elba were a little underused. Need more Heimdall!

Fast and Furious Johnson/Statham Style
Fast And Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw is a 2019 action movie directed by David Leitch and written by Chris Morgan and Drew Pearce from a story by Morgan. It was produced by Seven Bucks Productions and Chris Morgan Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film also had Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Morgan and Hiram Garcia as producers. The movie stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby and Ryan Reynolds.
When a team of MI6 agents try to retrieve a virus called "Snowflake", which could kill millions, from terrorist organization Eteon; Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), a cybernetically enhanced member of Eteon, arrives killing all the agents except Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby). She is able to inject herself with the virus and escape but Brixton forces her to go on the run by framing her as a traitor who killed her team and stole "Snowflake". Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) are both recruited by the CIA, to work together to track it down and recover it.
This movie definitely fit in with the Fast and Furious series and was what you expected from a spin-off of the main franchise. That being said, it also didn't feel like a good fit in a lot of ways. Dwayne Johnson's character Hobbs felt diminished in a way because of how they tried to humanize him and make him more relatable by introducing family like his daughter. Also Deckard Shaw, Statham's character was given the same treatment by introducing family characters as well. Since the Fast and Furious franchise is all about family, I guess this was to be expected but it came off as contrived and "trope-ish". Vanessa Kirby did an awesome job as kick ass Hattie Shaw and delivered a strong performance as did Idris Elba although his character felt like a stereo-typed villain. The stunts and action sequences of course were crazy as hell but if you like the Fast and Furious movies than you will like this film. For me though, I'm with most fans and feel that the team up with Shaw is a stab in the back to Han since he was killed by Shaw in the franchise. But I guess the movie makers didn't really care or maybe they'll do something else about it later and he'll wind up being alive. All in all, it's a decent movie but just didn't do it for me, even with the great action, the funny dialogue/banter between Statham and Johnson and solid performances from some of the actors. I give this movie a 6/10.

I liked it more than most it seems
The survival in the wilderness aspect of this film is what it does best, but it seems like I liked the developing love more than most people based on their ratings and comments.
Yeah fine no one wants the dog to die, but the movie was more than that. The Idris Elba character slowly reveals aspects of his personal like to Kate Winslet in a unique way. You expect them being found to be the end of the film, but it isn't and I was all right with that.
As far as the ending goes, there weren't too many ways it could go and the director picked one. Didn't bother me and I actually enjoyed it.
I also love Kate. Have since her "Introducing Kate Winslet" card in Heavenly Creatures. Make sure everone watched that too.

Enjoyably fun
Let's be honest, The Losers is never going to win any awards. However if you're looking for something entertaining and fun to pass 90 minutes, you can't really go wrong with this.
It's got a great cast, who doesn't love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba and Chris Evans? The rest of the cast too are very good and well rounded, and Jason Patric is an absolute riot as the over the top villain. Seriously he's hilarious. The plot is straight forward and the CGI is a little sketchy at times, but it's difficult to care as this film is just so much fun. Considering this is an action film, I laughed more at this than I've done in some outright comedies. If you're looking for something that's bags of fun and doesnt take itself too seriously, this is the film for you.

A bit of a disappointment
Considering all of the other things Aaron Sorkin has been involved in, I was expecting big things from this and sadly it was a bit of a disappointment.
Jessica Chastain is great as expected, and Idris Elba and Kevin Costner do well too despite limited screentime. Costner even gets some of the funniest lines. The story itself is interesting, it just isn't well executed. It's far too long and gets very boring at times. I was expecting something very smart, stylish and witty but it isn't really any of those things. It tries hard with the wit and humour but really falls flat and doesn't live up to Sorkin's usual standard.
Also I have to say it, but was all the cleavage really necessary? That is the only reason my other half came to watch it with me, and he's openly admitted he'd have found it very dull otherwise...
