Alison Pink (7 KP) rated High Five (Stephanie Plum, #5) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
Another great Stephanie Plum escapade. Not much to say other than that. The ending of this one left me hanging though. I REALLY want to know who showed up at Plum's door!!! I'm hoping that book 6 will solve that loose end, but I have a feeling its going to be left to my imagination.
I am hooked on these books! They are so entertaining! I find myself wishing I were Stephanie only to find myself thinking, "Damn! I'm glad I'm not her," a sentence later. She is a truly fascinating, well-rounded character that I find myself rooting for & laughing at all at once. Well played Ms. Evanovich!!!

Special Effects for Kong (2 more)
The acting is fairly good....
John C Reilly
The first half of this movie is a 10... once they hit the island AMAZING, then slowly downhill from there.
So I watched this movie one night, not expecting much but a show of primal force against modern technology and got exactly what i was looking for, but better than I expected. the foreboding on the island it palpable and delicious... The exotic species and fantastical creatures are appropriate and amazing. Really gets the imagination going. John C Reilly really rescues the ending in a lot of ways and makes it tolerable. Still a worthy watch.
ALilLacey (2 KP) rated Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1) in Books
Mar 4, 2019
The story line of Artemis Fowl is something I've never read before and has such imagination and whimsy sure to peak any middle age boy or girl (or 28 year old adult's) interest. Artemis is an intelligent 12 year old boy from a long line of Fowl's and wealth. He along with his bodyguard go on a journey to find out more the secret world of fairy's. This secret magic land of fairies, trolls and other mysterious creatures is different than any I've ever read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I can only see it getting even better from here!

I remember when this movie came out on one as part of the wonderworks collection of movies. Megan follows is perfect as Anne Shirley an orphan with a great imagination and a fiery temper and spirit. She is sent to live with brother and sister Matthew and marilla Cuthbert played by colleen dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth they are also perfectly cast. Anne meets friends and foes and has scraps and trials and tribulations. Some involving her bosom friend Diana berry and school rival Gilbert blythe! Perfect for the whole family

Simpler Times
Hanks produces 17 short stories that although exist in modern times, somehow feel as if Hanks has created a simpler, kinder, more gentle world. Hanks approaches such delicate topics as war, and infidelity, while at the same time maintaining a light tone. He really makes his reader feel as if it is all going to be OK, without being coming across as preachy or disingenuous. While Hanks leaves little to the imagination about just how a beloved typewriter sounds when striking a key, he does little work, if any to develop his characters beyond the most sparse descriptions.

Re-entering the 100 acre woods
Many of us remember growing up watching our favourite characters from the 100 acre wood; Winnie the pooh, Eyore, Tigger, Piglet...
This new film allows us to reimerse ourselves once again in this world.
We follow Christopher Robin, older now, having lost his childish imagination and sense of adventure. We see him with his own family, who he doesn't have time for and in a job he has poured his attention into yet received nothing in return.
Christopher Robin finds an old friend who helps him remember what is really important and how to overcome the Woozles in your life.
