This was such a sweetly written story!
I entirely enjoyed this read. From the very captivating beginning to the mining town of San Francisco, this story gives my imagination room to breath. I loved the characters, the descriptions of them, the interaction between them, and the hopeful lead into to another book at the end. The setting was very informative and gave me a great look at life back in the 1800's. I highly recommend this book.
I volunteered to read this book from Barbour Publishing Group in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed with in are my own.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
1977 | Action, Mystery, Sci-Fi

"And my third favorite is Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind. And I prefer the kind of dark cut — where the family is a little bit more “damned.” Richard Dreyfuss’ family — they’re a little bit more nagging, and it’s almost like they’re stepping on his dream and vision. They sort of become representative of a kind of bourgeois middle class America that doesn’t have any imagination and perhaps is even a little bit materialistic. It’s great. And in this one, I think it’s hinted that Dreyfuss and Melinda Dillon do get together. I just love it. I love Close Encounters –– it’s magical. "

La Dolce Vita (1960)
La Dolce Vita (1960)
1960 | Comedy, Drama

"When La dolce vita first came out, I felt that it was the most visually stunning and provocative film I had ever seen. It remains a jaw-dropping high-wire act, constantly stunning us with its energy, its imagination, its movement, its surprises—in both story and imagery—its wit, the brilliance of its camerawork, costumes, and music, with an endless parade of memorable characters. It’s so rich and entertaining and exciting in its execution that we almost completely forget how terribly sad is the plight of its lead character. And if anyone cares to look, it is the Gospel according to Matthew turned upside down."

"Let’s start with the most modern one, I suppose. La Grande Bellezza [aka] The Great Beauty. Paolo Sorrentino‘s movie. There’s a million different reasons. I think it’s the elegance of Toni Servillo‘s character. I think he’s almost like Dante going through the three stages of Paradiso, Inferno, Purgatorio. I used to live in Rome, so it’s a beautiful imagination of what Rome is. It’s the furious bacchanal element of the night life. The overzealous, religious conservatism of the daytime. It’s so beautifully done, and it’s elegant and dangerous. It’s intellectual. And buffoonish in all in the same breath. It’s an incredible movie. He’s a wonderful director."

Just Wounderfull
It is so nice to see a different style of animation. This seems like it was sketched out then rendered in 3D. The textures are rich and the design had a bit of a Coudy With a Chancenof Meatballs vibe. The addition of animations from the lead characters imagination is used to great effect.
That is all just the looks, we also get a wonderful look at family dynamics, a reminder that no one is perfect, and not to judge yourself by some high standards.
Warm, funny and visual stunning, it is a beautifull film inside and out, and well worth a watch.

The Greatest Showman (2017)
The Greatest Showman (2017)
2017 | Drama, Musical
Inspired by the imagination of P. T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

I challenge anyone to go to this film and not end up tapping their feet along to the music. Singing and dancing at it's best. It's probably some of the best singing I've heard on screen, dare I say it... all year. And it was a perfect way to finish 2017. It's exciting, interesting, heartwarming... and if that isn't enough then there's Hugh Jackman spinning the ladies when they dance... *sigh*.
