How do I even begin to review one of Aleatha's books?! I can't wait for the next book the moment I've begun and the end always comes too soon!? Deception is book three in the five-book Infidelity series. This book, like the previous two, kept me on edge from page one. Not only do I love that she gives you a glimpse back into the prior books in the beginning (which is great for someone like me who has probably read hundreds since reading Cunning and needs the reminder of where we last left off) but she gives you just enough to hang onto before leaving your heart on the floor after a cliffhanger ending!? And I love every minute of it ;-) After where they started, Nox and Charli's relationship has grown into something more spectacular than you could imagine and I loved seeing them in this next phase. Beautiful moments, hot sex scenes and plenty of added drama and action. Her books are everything, so much more than just a love story... HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended and as usual, I CAN NOT wait for book #4 so she can do it to me all over again!?

Judy Greer recommended Moonstruck (1987) in Movies (curated)

Moonstruck (1987)
Moonstruck (1987)
1987 | Comedy, Drama, Romance

"I also love the movie Moonstruck. I just think, again, it’s so brilliantly performed. I think Moonstruck and Tootsie are perfect movies. Like, I can’t find a flaw in them, and I’ve watched them countless times. I just think that they are perfect films. And in Moonstruck, what they’re dealing with is death, and loneliness, and loving the wrong person, and a family tie, and infidelity. And yet, it’s the most charming, uplifting, happy movie. I mean, the soundtrack, the score. There’s a makeover in it. I mean, come on, I love a makeover. And again, you have New York, you have Brooklyn, you have this wonderful city. You have this culture of this Italian family. It’s just wonderful. And Nicolas Cage gives the most insane performance I’ve ever seen. When he is screaming about his hand in the bakery, I’m like, “What is that? Who does it that way?” Nobody would do that. Only Nicolas Cage would just scream at the top of his lungs, like, “I lost my hand! I lost my bride!” I marvel at the balls, and that performance just wrecked me. Then her, of course, smacking him — we’ll never forget it."

does what its supposed to!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

10 erotic-themed stories including BDSM, cuckold, threesomes and infidelity.

That is what the blurb says, and that is what you get!

These stories are short and steamy and sexy and they all come with a bit of a twist. I didn't see them coming with the first few but after that, I took to seeing what that twist would be and mostly? I was wrong!

The only thing is, I know they were short, it says the book is 60 odd pages and for ten stories in those 60 odd pages, they have got to be short. And for ME, they were just a tad TOO short, you know? I was just getting into the tale, and boom, its done.

I found them steamy enough, without being too over the top. The steam level I would put at 4 out 5.

BUT!

For delivering exactly what it says on the tin, and giving me a delightful, sexy read between 2 much longer, heavier books...

Marian Keyes never fails to disappoint me with her books, and this one is no exception.
Her humour is injected beautifully into this book, whilst still dealing with issues of infidelity, an eating disorder, financial problems and imperfect marriages. All of the issues in the book are dealt with so delicately while also ensuring that the issues should not be taken lightly by the reader.
Marian Keyes always makes sure that her humour is in the book, and there are some ridiculous bits that made me laugh out loud while reading but also some serious parts that reminded you about life and the things other people have to deal with.
I loved the story being about three different marriages in one family as well as their kids and loved that it was from the point of view of seven characters - Jessie, Johnny, Ed, Cara, Liam, Nell and Ferdia. I felt that by the end everyone’s stories were tied up quite nicely… except for Nell and Ferdia! I had hopes that things would work out for them, but I doubt we’ll ever find out unfortunately!
Another amazing Marian Keyes that has been added to my growing collection of her work.

The Awakening Is a groundbreaking story about female infidelity in the Victorian Era.
I’ve come to the conclusion that some reviews are best for me to write ‘on reflection’ as my first thought after reading ‘The Awakening’ was ‘meh’, then I put some thought into it.
I can see how when this book was first released it did cause a bit of a furore, and I can even see that possibly even in this day and age if this had been one of the first books I had read on relationships how it would have affected me. However at the tender age of 40, with all that I have read and seen it just doesn’t have the intended impact on me, and that is a shame.
A similar thing happens with music, songs that were released in the sixties and considered ‘groundbreaking’ don’t move me as much as they did people back then because I’ve heard so much music that was ‘inspired by it’ that it doesn’t have the same wow factor as it did when it was first released.
Anyway, back to ‘The Awakening’ I think it really did have a strong ending though, and for that alone it will stick with me for a while.
