April Rose Mossow (93 KP) rated Teen Witch: Wicca for a New Generation in Books
May 20, 2019
I've read all of Ravenwolf's books. I enjoyed them greatly. I've always been a skeptic when it comes to religion and spirituality but Wicca was always something that seemed different (I'm . Since I first read TW, I've dabbled, and something always sticks in my mind with this author's books. She has a way of dumbing it down for New Witches and the like. Not too much where its like "duh" but enough so that someone who may not be entirely familiar with Wicca would be able to understand the information.

Daniel Boyd (1066 KP) rated Serial in Podcasts

Interviews with witnesses, suspects etc (1 more)
Information is well edited and presented
The host can be irritating and seems to harbour some bias at times (1 more)
The quality of the first season is never met again afterwards
An Exciting Tale To Hear Unfold
The first season of this show was great. Once you get over the annoying host, there is a gripping and exciting story to be told here. The second season was okay, but nowhere near as gripping or exciting as the first and I gave up on S-Town after one episode.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2336 KP) rated Mrs. Pollifax and the Hong Kong Buddha (Mrs Pollifax #7) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
It'd been too long since I had visited this old friend. In this book, the newly remarried Mrs. Pollifax sets off to Hong Kong to find out why one of Carstairs' informants has started sending him bogus information. Naturally, she is quickly in over her head. The formula is intact, although the finale of the book is very dark for the series (though not for a spy novel) and a bit rushed.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2336 KP) rated In a Gilded Cage (Molly Murphy, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
In 1903 New York City, Molly is working on two cases - one tracking down information on an orphan's parents, the other trying to get proof on a cheating husband. When one of her clients turns up dead, Molly really has her hands full. These books are a wonderful trip back in time. There is a strong sense of place and time. But the mystery is strong and the characters grow in every book.

Dana (24 KP) rated Oliver Twist in Books
Mar 23, 2018
I can honestly say that I did not enjoy this book. For me, Charles Dickens' works are all very repetitive. There's an orphan who continuously falls onto bad times, then suddenly figures things out and gets his life turned around. Everything happened too slowly and was way too drawn for me or it was important information told in passing. The chapters jump around a lot so it can get confusing temporally. There are too many characters with similar names to keep track of. Overall, I didn't enjoy this novel.

Patrick Williamson (6 KP) rated IMDb Movies & TV in Apps

The go to place for any film info
This is the encyclopedia of all film information - cast, crew, release dates etc. If you want to know something about a film you'll find it here. From black and white silent films to yet to be released blockbusters it's all here.
Now including more than just films is an added bonus (I hope that doesn't detract from the focus on films though because what it does it does brilliantly)

Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated Inside Out Human Body in Books
Mar 11, 2018
Inside out...
With beautiful illustrations and interesting subject matter, this book is a win-win with curious children. and although it is quite short, it fills a child with wonder and lets them take in what they want before progressing to more challenging reading material. The urine colour section will amuse children young and old, toilet humour at its best.
I am reviewing this book for Luann Columbo, Quarto Publishing, and NetGalley who gave me a copy of their book for an honest review.

graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park, #1) in Books
Dec 9, 2018
The book is good, but the movie is better
A rare case where the movie is better than the book. I like the changes they made, especially Lex, who in the book is not only brat, which I could handle, but she's stupid as f*** too. I don't think most eight-year-olds are quite this idiotic. Otherwise, it's a good book and I did enjoy the information that expanded onto what the movie was limited to provide.

Irene M (130 KP) rated One Day On Our Blue Planet . . . in the Savannah in Books
Dec 7, 2018
I received this book for review
I found this to be a wonderful little tale following 24 hours in the life of a newborn lion cub.
Every gorgeously illustrated page is packed with images of savannah birds and creatures to spot with a helpful picture guide inside the front and back covers for what they are. My 8yr old thoroughly enjoyed going back and forth through the pictures and then asking for more information of each of the animals he had found.
Highly recommended, both informative and entertaining.

I use Facebook to keep up with friends and groups that I belong too. You can get addicted and look every few hours to see what people have posted and people run their life by it and get upset if they cannot get on. It is very useful for information but I don't like that it also reads your computer so if you are looking up something on google for example it then appears on your Facebook page as an advert. Big Brother is watching you all the time.
