Suswatibasu (1701 KP) rated Then She Was Gone in Books

A little far-fetched but still exciting
While this thriller seems highly unlikely, it is pretty exciting with twist after twist. More than a decade after the disappearance and death of Ellie Mack, mother Laurel begins a new relationship with a family with a sinister connection.
Some aspects seem hugely unrealistic, i.e. relying on face value to make judgements, and the interconnections appear a little tenuous but this book should be enjoyed as an exhilarating read, rather than a psychological drama. There is very little character development, and sparse information regarding the wider characters such as Hannah and Paul. However, it's interesting nonetheless.

Inside out...
With beautiful illustrations and interesting subject matter, this book is a win-win with curious children. and although it is quite short, it fills a child with wonder and lets them take in what they want before progressing to more challenging reading material. With appropriate technical language used, this book would be good in a school library and would work well for project work as well as curious individuals.
I am reviewing this book for Luann Columbo, Quarto Publishing, and NetGalley who gave me a copy of their book for an honest review.

The mystery and intrigue continues. With very new piece of information we learn it seems as though one question is answered and at least two more appear.
Huntley continues to save the world in style whilst trying to decipher her past. All of this is made more challenging by not knowing who to trust.
As a reader we are just as baffled as Huntley about her past, despite the very small snippets from an unknown narrator.
The book ends on a pretty massive cliffhanger, so be prepared, although you’re lucky, you won’t have to wait for the next book to be released.

Lee (2222 KP) rated Searching (2018) in Movies
Sep 15, 2018
The search for a missing daughter unfolds before our eyes on a computer screen, pulling together clues and information from social media and messaging services. While there have been a couple of decent horror movies recently employing this method of storytelling, none of them have been as effective as this. Edge of seat, intense drama with a few twists and turns towards the end. This may have gripped me a lot more than it normally would, as I have a daughter in her early teens, just starting to build an online life of her own, but wow this movie was amazing!

Wonderful Insight
I was a bit curious about this book as i have watched the series Narcos on Netflix which has been created from this book. The book is much darker and contains a lot of information about Pablo Escobar that was lacking in the series. This shows his childhood and how he grew to become one of the most notorious Drug lords in the world. If you like your biographical stories then this won't let you down. A fantastic read even for those who have not seen the series.
Roxanne (13 KP) rated My Mini Midwife: Everything You Need to Know About Pregnancy and Birth in Books
Nov 9, 2018
This book is all you need for everything you need or want to know about you and your bump. I would recommend this to every pregnant lady. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it is aimed at the 'traditional' pregnancy with the 'traditional' family plan...not with any support to an unplanned pregnancy or perhaps a single mother to be. This is probably not intentionally one sided but it would have been even more helpful with some information perhaps dedicated to a family which may not necessarily be seen as 'the norm'.

Fun and informative
This app allows you to check how big you baby is according to fruit (everyone does fruit) animals (a little more unusual) and sweets (who doesn't want to compare their baby to sweets )
Every day an article is uploaded which relates to where you are in pregnancy.
Articles are written by a variety of people
The app also allows you to save articles, make notes and keep track of things like your weight.
It may not be the most comprehensive app out there but I’m enjoying what it has to offer.

Suffering from CFS I can partially relate to the people featured in this documentary, their daily struggles, how it affects people around them and the support they get. It also makes you realise that however bad you feel personally, there are people out there who are suffering in ways you cannot even begin to imagine.
It isn't an easy documentary to watch and certainly isn't a rainbows and pink unicorns film, don't watch if you want some light entertainment, but highly recommended for information...

Action
Classic disaster movie
A 70s classic disaster movie. A strong cast acts out the action based on a best selling novel.. It follows the action both in the plane and out and also adds the right amount of back story and information about the major players that actually makes you care what happens to them, and also helps balances out the suspense and action so you are not overwhelmed, which many modern action films haven't quite got quite right...
I First saw this many years ago and re watching it, unlike some things, I wasn't disappointed.
