Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Lego have teamed up again to make yet another winning entry into their Lego series of games with Lego DC Super Villains.
I got an early look at the game at E3 and San Diego Comic Con including a visit with one of the Producers as well as an interview with key members of the voice cast so I was happy to have a more well-rounded perspective of what to expect going into the final release of the game. My staff played it at PAX West and were very impressed with it as well which only lead to the anticipation to try the final game.
The game allows players to craft their own villain using the easy to use and fun character creator as you enter the world of DC in order to deliver menace.
Iconic characters ranging from Lex Luthor to Captain Cold, Cheetah, Harley Quin, The Joker, and countless others are available to play and each has their own unique set of abilities. Players can switch between character sets in a mission as the puzzles often require specific abilities to complete. Lex Luthor may have some impressive firepower with his power suit, but when agility and climbing are required you will need to have other options.
Missions are fun and ideal for gamers of all ages as defeating enemy’s results in a shower of Lego pieces which can often be used to construct items which are key to the success of a mission.
If you have ever played any of the Lego games released in the last few years; the open world setting and plethora of characters will seem familiar to you as well the family friendly fun the game will offer.
The game can be enjoyed as a co-op experience so playing with others is highly recommended as the puzzles often require a mix of action and thought to resolve.
I would suggest getting the game on one of the console platforms as I played it on a PC after playing it on consoles at conventions and I had a few issues playing on the PC from control response to some video issues.
The game offers bright and fun graphics and the sound of the game is punctuated by a top-notch voice cast who will be very familiar with fans of many of the animated DC offerings.
The game will have future DLC available which will allow even more characters to become available and increase the fun and variety of the game.
If you are a fan of Lego or DC; you will not want to miss this one.

Verdict: What The?
Story: Climax starts as we meet all the dancers in this gathering, Selva (Boutella) seems to be the one that is planning the big dance number that will give all of them a chance to show of their different styles and techniques, we see an early look at the project before seeing the dancers relaxing at a party, going through the social numbers.
The night takes a dramatic turn when somebody spikes the drink with LSD putting everybody into a hallucinatory nightmare bringing out the worst in them all.
Thoughts on Climax
Characters – We have so many characters that we meet in this film, nobody seems to be the main character, with most getting equal screen time, this doesn’t help the movie because it is hard to keep up with every single character, you get to see the names in the opening introduction only to forget them when you meet the next one, not many of them are that interesting either, they do all have one thing in common though, they want to be dancers.
Performances – It is hard to judge any of the performances in this film, the dancing side of everything is faultless, it is meant to look different, but because we don’t give enough time to the actors it is hard to give them time to shine in anyway through this film.
Story – The story follows a group of dancers that are working on a project who look to celebrate only for the occasion to turn into a nightmare when the drink is spike. I am going to be honest, there really isn’t a story here, it is mostly just characters talking about who they want to have sex with, then getting high and running around like maniacs, that is all that happens.
Horror – The horror in this film comes from just what these people end up doing to each other once the drugs have kicked in, it’s a lot of screaming and it does try to push the boundaries, the problem comes from us not getting to know these characters enough to care what they do.
Settings – The film is set in one location, it has plenty of corridors along with a big party hall, which does make senses for everything happening in once location over one night.
Scene of the Movie – The interview introductions do make sense for the number of characters we have to meet.
That Moment That Annoyed Me – The first about 50 minutes is just boring.
Final Thoughts – This is a movie that will have its fans, though it is just a complete art piece that is trying to push the boundaries more than give us a proper story with too many characters to keep up with.
Overall: Overly Arty Movie.

I’ve read some pretty spooky books in my time, but none have had me on the edge of my seat in quite the same way as Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware did! There’s an underlying menace in this book - nothing explicit - and I think that makes it all the more frightening. I can’t even tell you the amount of times I told the lead character, a Nanny from London, to just pack up, leave the children with the housekeeper, and go home!
So, as I’ve already begun to say, Rowan is a Nanny who has been employed to look after the children of a wealthy husband and wife architecture team. They work away from home, and need someone to take care of their young children (plus a 14 year old who comes home from boarding school at the weekend). It all seems very rushed, and when Rowan turns up to take her post, Sandra (the mum) drops the bombshell that they will both be leaving for a week the next day. The children haven’t even had a chance to get to know Rowan with their mum there! Sandra leaves a huge folder with instructions for EVERYTHING regarding the children, and a very quick lesson on ‘Happy’, the house computer system (kind of like Alexa, but less chatty and far less easy to use!). I would’ve said something here, but Rowan seems to be desperate for the job. She seems to be a nice enough person, but she does make allusions to her temper, and does seem to lose it with the children quite a bit. But I’m not surprised - she is woken up every night, either by bumps and pacing sounds, or Happy seemingly having a huge glitch and playing loud music whilst turning on lights throughout the house in the early hours. Well, Maddie, the 8 year old, did warn her about the displeasure of the ghosts at her interview.....
I loved how creepy this was - I didn’t know what was real and what Rowan was imagining because of sleep deprivation, but it made all of the days seem to merge together. You could feel how tired and scared she must have been.
The last fifth of the book was something else though. I can’t think of many books where I’ve actually told a character out loud “No!” (It made my dogs stop and look!). The last few (yes, FEW!) revelations and twists kept the tension running right up to the end.
Have I said that I loved this book? This is my second Ruth Ware book, and it certainly won’t be my last - this is even better than The Death of Mrs Westaway (if that’s possible!).

a guy starts his shift at a local diner, and a girl also working there seemingly flirts with a customer and they go off to make out in his car, they thankfully turn out to be a couple. .upon their return to the diner, the guy stops a robbery taking place by beating the criminal repeatedly with a frying pan, and is crowned a hero.
Fast forward 4 months and the girl (Katy) is at her new job as a caregiver for an elderly man. when she gets home, it is clear that her and Adam are having serious financial difficulties. Katy reaches out to Leonard, the man she is taking care of, who offers to give Adam a job. Whilst Adam is speaking to Leonard about the job, an estate agent comes knocking at the door offering to buy the house, but Katy tells him that Leonard has no plans to move.
After finishing one of her shifts, Katy recieves a shock in her pay cheque when she discovers she had been paid $7000. she wants to give it back but Adam convinces her to keep it.
the next day Katy goes to her job as usual, only to find Leonard had passed away in his sleep. Katy and Adam go snooping in a locked chest and find a huge amount of money, and like before, Adam wants to keep it, but Katy thinks they should leave it for now, so they do. However, after a failed job interview, Adam returns to Leonards to take the money but ends up being attacked by an intruder. After the ordeal Katy and Adam decide to stor the money in a safe deposit box at the bank.
Katy soon discovers that Leonard left her everything including the house in his will. Once her and Adam move in, the threats and strange things start happening.
45 minutes it took for the movie to get going, and for a film that is only an hour and a half, that's a good chunk of the movie to get to the main part of the story!! Despite this i did enjoy the movie, I just wished it would have got to the main storyline quicker than it did. It definitely had a straight to tv kinda vibe, I couldnt imagine watching it in the cinema, but depending on your taste, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. there are also scenes where you wonder what on earth the characters are playing at, like when Katy and Adam sit talking after finding Leonard, rather than reporting it straight away, such a face palm moment. otherwise the film isn't too bad.
