Kim Pook (101 KP) rated Dolly Parton: Here I am (2019) in Movies
Sep 20, 2020
Admittedly I have never been much of a dolly fan, nothing against her but I'm not into country music. Saying that, I did go into this with an open mind.
From the moment she is on screen she comes across as very likeable and down to earth, she even makes fun of her plastic surgery which sadly has ruined her looks, but we all know it's what's inside that counts.
She's definitely passionate about her work and very political, she also seems to be a very private person. The documentary has interviews with a few big names including Kylie minogue and Jane fonda but nobody had any dirt or juicy gossip, in fact this is the only documentary I've watched so far where's there's been nothing negative about the celeb. It does leave you wanting to know more.

Underdeveloped True Crime Story
Unlike a lot of the episodic true crime stories that have been on Netflix recently this one takes a one off 91 minute movie approach which leaves you wanting for more details and info. Although going for a whole full series would probably be pushing it, I really feel this story needed a bit more development. A mini series would've been preferable to the too rapid rattling through of a series of hard to believe events.
It’s pretty much all told via interviews with Jan (the victim) and her family with little from other sources. Considering most of it comes from their lips and a lot sounds incredibly naive (even for 1970s) it has a very hard to believe feel to it. Needed a lot of development on some points barely mentioned.

You need to listen -
Wow.
I have been hooked, still am.
I have listened to the 1st series more than once. The episodes are so intriguing and draw you in.
An investigation into the death of 21 year old Christian Andriacchio, the first series dives into timelines, exclusive interviews, evidence and the 911 call. The family are suspicious and are 100% convinced foul play, but a 45 minute police investigation ruled it a suicide.
What happened? Was this murder? Or just a tragic story with a sad ending?
I must say I did my own research alongside the podcast, and if you jump down the rabbit hole like I did, you are bound to dig up things the P.D didnt want you to see.
Let me know in the comments if you listened, and if you are excited for season 2.
