"More than a biography, Ellmann’s telling of the familiar tale of the Irish playwright’s spectacular rise and tragic downfall holds up a mirror to society’s hypocrisy about almost everything but especially sex. Wilde was the original victim of “Don’t ask, Don’t tell.” He was London’s pet Bad Boy until it turned out he was a man with a dick as well."

Tragic story of Irish communities
This book had a lot of similarities with Philomena. It's hugely tragic, about a woman who has been in an asylum for 80 years after being out there by malicious priests and community leaders, annulling her marriage and taking away her baby. While at times it seems improbable, the story of her psychiatrist trying to uncover her story is beautiful.

<b><i>"In Irish lore, when children go under the hill, they don’t come out again.
Ever.
When children go under the hill, they stay where they’re put.
Forever.
When children go under the hill, parents, though they pray and search, don’t truly think to see them anymore.
Never.</b></i>

Very chilling little story. Who know fairies could be so twisted?
