Critic Review By Wendy Ide - The Guardian
Original Score: 3 out of 5
Excerpt:
...it’s enjoyable enough, if a little overblown. However, despite the quality of actors – Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson star, alongside John C Reilly – the characters are not quite as nuanced as you might hope.

Mothergamer (1539 KP) rated Pokemon Moon in Video Games
Aug 23, 2017
Fun Game
I really liked this. It's fun to explore and catch Pokemon. The story is simple, but good. The gameplay is great and there are a lot of fun side quests and mini games. You can even buy different outfits for your character which is pretty cool. You can train your Pokemon and there's even an island for wild Pokemon you catch. Overall, a fun game to play.

Peter G. (247 KP) rated King Kong (2005) in Movies
Jun 5, 2019
Bloated, long and over indulgent Peter Jackson effort that is as boring as a day trip to boring town in the country of boredom.
It picks up towards the last third of the film as the action begins, the animation of Kong and other creatures are fantastic, however you have to sit through mountains of exposition long before they make it to the island, it's a long wait for such a small payoff, give it a miss.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2173 KP) rated Brush with Death (Gray Whale Inn Mystery, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Natalie Barnes is enjoying the slower pace of winter on Cranberry Island when her niece's painting mentor is murdered. Fernand was such a nice man, who would want to kill him?
There are plenty of storylines to pull you in and keep you reading, and the main characters are great. The recurring characters aren't as sharp as I remember them being, but that's a minor complaint.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2173 KP) rated Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii (Mr. Monk, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Natalie is heading to Hawaii for a friend's wedding, but unfortunately Monk tags along. When a wedding guest is murdered, Monk finds some flaws in the crime scene. Will the new horrors of the island distract him from solving the case? There are some distractions to the main mystery, but they are entertaining. This is another great read for fans of the series.

Dean (6925 KP) rated Fear Island (2009) in Movies
Jul 21, 2018 (Updated Aug 14, 2020)
A decent straight to DVD thriller/horror as a young woman recounts the events on a small island over a weekend, which led to the deaths of her friends. There are a few familiar faces in this, and the production value is pretty good for a low budget film. It has a decent plot with a few, fairly predictable twists, but still enjoyable fun nevertheless. More thriller than blood n guts horror, but it kinda just makes it into the slasher category. Check it out!
