Emotive and challenging
I had to take a few days breather before writing a review for this book. It is an truly emotive read, challenging your personal ethics by drawing you into the lives of Louisa and Will. I am not going to elaborate because it will very quickly become spoilery. Suffice it to say that it is very well written, it tackles a significantly poignant issue of the current era and it left me upset, disturbed and satisfied.

I definitely think it's not everyone's cup of tea and quite different to her others but the next two in the series are much more like her other books.

I've been thinking about possibly reading After You when I get the chance

promised more than it delivered
Although a great piece of work it never realises it's parts that could have turned it into something very special. The very strong cast play their roles and absorb you. However it continuously hints of something magical underneath and it's this magic which makes you turn the page until the magic, instead of being the core of the book, sputters out before it took hold. Had it not this could have become a classic.

If you love games that draw you into the story than this is for you. You explore the family tree of a girl named Edith and even though it is very linear it doesn't feel like it. It is a very unique game and it is one of my favourites. It is a bit sad and depressing at times, so if you are not a fan of games like that than this might not be for you.

I think it ended a bit abruptly and i wasn't convinced by the romance but it won me over a lot with Annika's dedication to her sick younger brother and the stories and the wishes and all the stuff she does to make him happy. I shed a few tears near the end when i thought it was going to be bad news--and with how it ended, it could still be bad news--but i did like it.

Movie Favorite

"Then I’ll go with Ikiru by Kurosawa. The scene about a man who died. The opening scene is like, “Oh, this guy died — let’s talk about his life.” And then it goes back. It is, you know, it was made in the ’50s and it was hard to get good prints of it, but now the Criterion Blu-ray is out and it looks a lot better. It’s just a beautiful movie, astonishingly; the movie and the message."

"I wouldn’t say this is one of my favorites, but it was definitely shocking—a very challenging film and a very delicate subject. It’s dark, psychological, and medical—which is not necessarily the best combo for, you know, a date movie. But there was nothing like it. There was nothing like it before and I don’t think anything really like it afterwards. To me it felt like a risk, and I enjoyed that aspect of it."

"It was made in 1968, and it’s kind of old school. I actually ended up watching it for school, but I was home schooled, so I watched it in my house. For whatever reason, when I saw that film, dude, I loved it. I [was] addicted to it. Kind of ended up falling in love with Olivia Hussey. I became a fan girl, I’m not even kidding you. I thought about it nonstop for a long, long time."

Huh...i thought I'd enjoy this more. It dragged in places and I definitely felt like I was reading something that was written in the nineties. It wasn't modern enough for me romance wise. I like my rough and ready, dirty talking guys and my kick arse gals but other than the occasional scene, it wasn't there.

It had a good premise but it fell short for me. It was too long, too. I get bored by long books.

"It’s another game changer for me. I saw it when I was 12, I think. 11 or 12. I just remember saying to my brother, “I didn’t know movies could make me feel like this.” So it transported me. I believed in it. It was fun, it was funny, I was on the edge of my seat — everything about it. I remember saying that to him: “I didn’t know movies could make me feel like this.”"

I went into this book not having any clue what I would be reading. However I am very glad I got to review it because this was so amazing. It was like a giant puzzle.. it kept me guessing on what was going to happen next and who was going to do what. I have never read da vinci's code but was told it was sort of like that. I can't tell you if that's true or not but if so I need to read that as well. Derek's writing was so amazing it was vivid.. It showed you this world.. it showed you what was happening and at the same time showed you nothing. I loved it and I'm so glad I got to review it
