Jaws in aisle 3
I had heard about this a while back as it was made in 2012. Expecting it to be a very bad low budget B movie. It's not as bad as Sharknado thankfully. It still suffers from some bad acting, script and dodgy CGI. If you don't mind the silly low budget, bargain bin films you might find this OK. You're not missing much if you don't take the bait...

"The other movie that was really influential to me was Jaws. I was only 12, and that I thought was real! I even thought Charlie’s Angels was real! There was such an innocence in our culture when we were growing up, as if this was real life, and maybe there are cameras watching that. [I thought], “They’re not fake. These aren’t actors. This is real.” I don’t know why our parents weren’t helping us with that."

"Psycho, the Alfred Hitchcock film, the film with Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh. I thought that film was groundbreaking at its time, and I think everyone else did, too. The shower scene in Psycho, I likened it to people being afraid to go in the ocean because of Jaws. People were afraid after that film to take a shower. I remember distinctly so many people talking about that because of that shower scene with Janet Leigh."

Overhyped movie
I thought crawl is a way overhyped as a movie. Everybody saying is the next blockbuster movie, the next jaws, the best horror movie of this year, it will scary the living hell out of you. When in reality/my opinion is just a okay movie nothing to spiecal, if your big into survival movies than go see it, if not in my opinon just skip it and wait for it to come out on dvd.

Dialogue is atrocious: particularly re a father/daughter angst sub-plot (0 more)
Directed by Alexandre Aja (“Piranha 3D”) this is a sub-90 minute film that at least doesn’t outstay its welcome. It’s been a decent summer hit for the studios (at the time of writing it has made $75 million on a meagre $13 budget).

It’s certainly not for the faint-hearted in its gore. It delivers a lot of chomping, with the action getting progressively more ludicrous, reminiscent of the “flesh-wound” scene in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”!. Some jump scares work well. But I can’ t say its a great film, because it’s really not. In the hands of a Spielberg, this might have really had legs (…to chomp on, LoL). It’s CERTAINLY no “Jaws”. It’s not even a “Deep Blue Sea”. But it’s mildly entertaining nonetheless.

"This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest books about making movies. Gottlieb, who wrote the screenplay for Jaws, gives a day-to-day account of the process of making the film, from choosing the location to building the shark … or rather, sharks! You get to see the magic—and madness—of moviemaking, from the crazy shoot to the blockbuster hit. If you have ever had a fascination with how movies are made, why not learn it from the best?"
