Strange but so very fantastic!

I had been waiting a very long time to see this since nobody I knew would watch it with me... I'm a big fan of stop motion movies but apparently nobody else is?? Finally, Netflix added it and I must have seen it about 20 times since then.... the whole movie is so strange but I can't get enough! The casting is fantastic! Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum and Brian Cranston? Genius! They definitely added to the movies feel and made it a better watch but the plot is just so great! City that doesn't allow dogs so they get dumped. Boy goes to find his dog on island. Epic journey to save his best friend. New friends along the way and a possible love interest... spectacular!

Incredible cast
The dinosaurs look incredible
The writing
Are there any flaws to this movie? I think not!
Wow what can I say about this? A classic. A masterpiece. The greatest dinosaur movie of all time by far....in fact 1 of the greatest movies in general of all time.

The soundtrack is iconic. John Williams is a genius. You hear that song anywhere and you immediately know what movie it is.

Sam neills greatest role, shirtless Jeff goldblum, a young(er) Samuel l Jackson and a great Richard attenborough. The cast is great with fantastic writing. In a film about dinosaurs the acting is believable, I love the relationships between the characters.

We can't forget the other main cast member.....the dinosaurs. The looked incredible. The use of animatronics were genius mixed with some visual effects. They looked believable, they were scary and there were many different types to keep you interested. The sounds were perfect along with the intense feeling of seeing water shake letting you know something big is coming.

Spielburgs directing is on top form for this movie and is easily 1 of his best and that is saying a lot. Only he can present a scene to you that invokes both awe and fear at the same time.

It does make you think too even now about where technology is going and Jeff goldblum says it best in 1 seen. "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that didn't stop to think if they should" this line has stuck with me for a long time because it's true even today.

Fantastic movie that belongs in anyone's top 10. It is the only Dino movie worth watching. Nothing else comes close.

Had potential but didn't deliver
Hotel Artemis is one of those films that looks and sounds good before you see it, but then sadly ends up as a bit of a disappointment. The basic plot is a good idea, a hotel for criminals, even if it is a little similar to the one in John Wick. It also has a great cast, but they're sadly underused with dull or stereotypical characters. The story itself starts off interesting but gets dull too towards the end. I think the problem is that it is trying to be and do too much with different genres and backstories, and ends up just becoming a bit meh. The only real stand out performance was Jeff Goldblum and even he was underused. It's such a shame as this film had so much potential but ultimately failed to deliver.

"Whenever I watch this movie, I want to go out with my son and fire off an Estes rocket in the back yard. I love this movie. I love what it stands for — exploring the unknown and our deepest fears. I love the era: the space race with the Russians. I love the heroism — Chuck Yeager had the biggest pair of balls of any man. Ever! The greatest lesson this movie teaches is the balance of tone. Obviously it has some incredible drama and action, but it also has straight up comedy. It’s really hard to juggle those three things in one movie. Harry Shearer and Jeff Goldblum are the perfectly understated comic relief guys. Fred Ward, who I got to work with in Naked Gun 33 1/3, is hilarious. This movie has it all."

Still No Feathers
Fifth Jurassic Park movie tries to strike a balance between providing what audiences expect (people who should know better go off to dinosaur-infested island; running and chomping ensues) and trying to move the series on by including some new ideas. Results are moderately successful, although the second half of the film is a bit all over the place in terms of its tone and subtext.

Main shift is from 'run away from the dinosaurs!' to 'save the dinosaurs!', although there is still all the requisite chasing about and dismemberment; attempts to include social commentary and elements of genuine SF kind of work, I suppose. Hardly one of the great films of our day, but should keep audiences happy - technically very impressive, and a good cast for this sort of thing (though Jeff Goldblum is only in it for literally about two minutes).

So Jodi Foster looks like my grandma and that's pretty upsetting, because that must mean I am also old. But she plays the role of the Nurse really well! (As if anyone expects anything different from Ms. Foster, right?) Overall, the acting in this movie was spot-on. I think Jeff Goldblum has reached the point in his career where he's allowed to play himself in every movie (like Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino), but he's always fun to watch. Dave Bautista was great. I think what kept this movie from being really great was the story. It was so close! It was almost good, but it felt unfinished or undeveloped. This movie suffered from a lack of context. Some stories can handle that, but this one felt shaky. There are so many unanswered questions and vague endings that it was an unsatisfying experience. I wanted more!

Probably as good as a Marvel film can get
Finally got around to seeing this. (I am always late to the party since I don't visit the theatre often.)

You will never see me mention stunning visuals (although I just did) as a plus in any movie any more. Gone are the days of being blown away by Jurassic Park, Total Recall and The Matrix. It should go without saying the "visuals were amazing", and filmmakers should be striving higher to making an engaging story with interesting characters and trying to give audiences something they were not expecting.

Having said all that, I did find this film more interesting and entertaining than its predecessor, and Cate Blanchett made a great Marvel vileness. Although I had heard this was a funny film, I wasn't really that impressed (maybe my expectations were too high).

The film suffered from Avenger-itis I thought by wanting to cram too much into one movie. The action scenes and Jeff Goldblum are enough for me to recommend.
