Happy Death Day 2 U (2019) brings us a happy return to the big screen for Jessica Rothe. #Review
Planting its tongue firmly in cheek, the sequel to 2017’s delightfully peppy “Happy Death Day” takes the timey-wimey slasher story and gives it a decidedly sci-fi twist that sees it play out like an over-caffeinated mash-up of “Back To The Future Part II” and “Russian Doll”...

Groundhog Slasher
A light hearted tongue in cheek take on the Slasher genre. Featuring a Groundhog day angle of living and dying the same day over and over. It has its funny moments and Jessica Rothe is great in her role. Mixed with a bit of a Whodunit? twist with plenty of suspects. Don't expect a violent gorefest and you should like this quite a bit.

Happy Death Day (2017) puts a new spin on the old saying 'many happy returns'!
Although it has its moments of dread and tension, the movie’s not out to terrify or traumatize, it just wants to have a good time and give you a few chills while it does it. Jessica Rothe is an eminently likeable lead, convincing both as the selfish, IDGAF sorority girl and the tempered victim ready to atone for her past and take control of her future...

Fails as a horror movie, but still a good twisty tale of love and loss.
After the first Happy Death Day, didn't really seem like there was a need for a sequel, but Hollywood had other ideas. Firstly, the trailer for this movie is very misleading, one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to films. This, unlike the original, is not a horror movie. Also, much of the logic used to explain this sequel is a convoluted mess. But the film is still a fun ride. Jessica Rothe carries this film with her undeniable charisma, talent, and heart. Where a lesser actress would have been lost amongst all the plot holes, Rothe shines. You can't help but love her and care about her character's plight. So, as a horror movie, this fails, but stands as a twisty tale of love and loss.

Murder can be fun!
Picture Edge of Tomorrow, but instead of aliens killing someone over & over, it's a slasher. Simple enough. Just like that film, and Groundhog Day, our protagonist learns from their mistakes & becomes a better person. Jessica Rothe was great as the one who's stuck in the time loop. She's very funny. The story is very simple, but it's entertaining. I figured out who was who (trying not to give anything away here), but it didn't matter. There are some creepy parts, but unlike most slasher films, there is practically no gore. Which is fine. In fact, you may not even consider it a slasher film. The one problem I have with the film is it doesn't explain why she is looping. But I hear the sequel explains it. Guess I'll have to watch that soon.

There is enough increasing absurdity in Happy Death Day 2U to ensure that it's just as fun and entertaining as the first movie. It's sadly less rooted in horror this time around, and instead opts for a sci-fi/comedy approach, with the occasional sprinkle of PG-13 slasher tropes.

Jessica Rothe is honestly, for a second time, fantastic. Neither of these films would work half as well without her. Her character Tree, is hugely likable, and has great chemistry with the other cast members. This goes double for when director Christopher Landon decides to blindside the audience with an emotional beat. There's one scene in particular with Tree and her Mother that has all the potential to be a cheesy mess, but thanks to Rothe and Missy Yager, hits all the right notes. It's all good stuff that is unexpected from what is a standard family friendly Blumhouse flick on the surface.

As mentioned, the plot is so silly, but it's attempts to explain how the events of the first film even happened are admirable, and shakes up the formula enough to ensure it doesn't get boring, even though it has familiar moments. Some of the twists are a little convoluted, and the comedy aspects go a tad overboard sometimes, but overall the dumb narrative works a treat.

Happy Death Day 2U is a great if flawed switch-off popcorn movie, that's frequently funny, and has just enough horror elements to belong in the genre. Worth checking out!

Happy Death Day is far more enjoyable than it has any right to be - a PG-13 rated horror version of Groundhog Day sounds pretty uninteresting on paper, but it absolutely doesn't take itself seriously, and that works in it's favour.

The basic plot premise is nothing new, and has been done better in films like Edge of Tomorrow, but it has fun with it.
Every side character is set up to have a motive, so the identity of the masked killer is well hidden, and keeps you guessing throughout.
The lead actress Jessica Rothe is really good fun, as her character goes through a personality shift as she learns to appreciate the people in her life instead of being a total douche. (This would usually be an eye rolling plot point, but the film genuinely lands some good emotional beats)

It's definitely a far cry from being a classic horror film (that PG-13 rating is a potential contributor) but it's honestly a fun movie.

Over and Over Again
Happy Death Day 2U- should of been good, but in actuality it wasnt. The whole mult-veruse concept just didnt please me. I didnt like it at all. I fell like it didnt fit and it was basically the whole movies length time. So without it you wouldnt have the movie. Take away the mult-veruse concept and focus on the other charcter and why he is going through the same day without the mult-veruse than the movie would be good. It should of just been a mystery thriller slasher film and thats it. Other than that the movie is okay.

The plot: Collegian Tree Gelbman wakes up in horror to learn that she's stuck in a parallel universe. Her boyfriend Carter is now with someone else, and her friends and fellow students seem to be completely different versions of themselves. When Tree discovers that Carter's roommate has been altering time, she finds herself once again the target of a masked killer. When the psychopath starts to go after her inner circle, Tree soon realizes that she must die over and over again to save everyone.

Like i said its a okay movie, i recordmend just watch the first movie and thats it.
