Another unnecessary sequel
It's such a shame the Saw films have got to this. The original was in my opinion, brilliant especially with that twist. Even the second film was fairly decent. Sadly the rest of the sequels got gradually worse and more convoluted until we finally thought we'd seen the end in the "Final Chapter"... but alas no, they still can't let Jigsaw rest and have now brought everything back in a new film and most likely numerous sequels - I'll bet everything I own that this won't be the sole Jigsaw film!

I had low expectations for this and I wasnt disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't bored and it kept me entertained even if it was fairly silly and bad. It just could've been so much better.

The acting was in the most part atrocious and cheesy. Only Tobin Bell really came out of this unscathed. The traps and gore seemed lame and a bit boring in comparison with the other films, although this is kind of explained by the twist ending, but it still isn't acceptable. And the twists themselves, so predictable and unoriginal! Saw them coming a mile off, proving that the more sequels you have, the more film makers struggle to for originality. The plot itself also didn't make sense in parts - it vaguely tied in to the Saw films but didn't directly throw back to the actual ending of the 7th film. Major plot holes both relating to that and the twist ending here that they obviously didn't want to think about.

This is alright if you're bored and need something to watch - especially when there's nobody else in the cinema screen! But sadly it's a poor tribute to the original Saw film, like most of its predecessors.

This one - The Disappointment

Let Me Explain- so it toke seven whole years for the studio to come up with a good enough story, so that it can be released to theaters. I mean thats good, isnt. Not in this case. Seven years for a overall disappointing movie, Seven whole years and what did come up with as the result/outcome, this movie. This movie was weird, it was strange, to me it didnt feel like a saw movie, i mean it had some of the elements of a saw movie, but overall to me it didnt seem like one. More of lets try our best to make a reboot of the saw franchise and see how that works out. It didnt work. Now have to wait until May of all months for the next instellment of the saw franchise.

The Plot: After a series of murders bearing all the markings of the Jigsaw killer, law enforcement officials find themselves chasing the ghost of a man who has been dead for over a decade, and they become embroiled in a new game that's only just begun. Is John Kramer back from the dead to remind the world to be grateful for the gift of life? Or is this a trap set by a killer with designs of his own?

The only good thing about this movie was the return of Tobin Bell as John Kramer/Jigsaw.

Hopefully Chris Rock of all people can save the Saw Franchise and Darren Lynn Bousman returns which is a plus. Well have to wait until May to find out.

'Spiral: from the book of Saw' is the ninth Saw film and, for once I can say it's not more of the same.
Spiral is a Saw film, it has the traps and the police but it's an all new cast, the only time we see any of the original cast is in a photo of the original 'Jigsaw'. The traps also don't play the same roll, most of the previous Saw films had the 'game's' play the main part of the film and the police investigations were set to fill in the gaps. Spiral is the reverse, a new Jigsaw killer is targeting police and the main plot is the police trying to stop him, concentrating on the relationships in the department and using the franchise's use of flashbacks to add to the story. We only see the traps for a few moments, there is still gore but not at the same level. Instead we have a number of jump scared as 'the pig' grabs his victims .
Spiral seems to be thinking that the time of 'torture poem's is over, yes there are people who still want to watch it but noted many. This is why it's the Saw franchise that is still going, other films in the genre, such as 'Hostel' relied on gore but didn't have much else to offer but saw had more story as well.
When I say all the cast is new that includes the puppet, instead of the little guy on a tricycle we have a pig man, we have lots of pig references, proving bus to the fact that the victims are all police.
Although it is a Saw film, Spiral is a good jump jump on point for new views as it doesn't rely on the originals to much and sets up for a possible new franchise.
