Disappointing, John Hurt is the only good thing
What a ridiculous film. Apart from John Hurt, the film lacked any kind of substance but tried too hard to be clever. It consisted of several murders, with mathematical clues, leading to a big explosion that actually ended up being an anti-climax. I tend to avoid films with Elijah Wood for a reason.

Just finished watching again probably one of my favourite new who episodes and the perfect way to celebrate its birthday. Still going strong after 56 years hard to believe it's the longest running sci fi show in the world. Anyway back to the episode what can I say about it besides probably the best who casting of all time in John Hurt as the war doctor no one else could have played him quite like he does. the rest of cast are just as good and too bring the zygons as well brilliant but no loch Ness monster shame

Been awhile since I last watched the movie probably 25 years but since it’s on Disney plus time to watch again still as funny as when I last watched it both cusack and driver are the best part of the movie and it doesn’t hurt to have cool 80s soundtrack

"Some say Jay McInerney partied too much and it hurt his output, but the fact that the party produced this brilliant, hysterically funny description of the party makes the partying worth it in my book. That the novel’s narrator is based on a young woman who, I’ve heard lately, grew up to become John Edwards’ mistress of course only makes it better."

"TWO criminally underrated John Hurt movies in one list?!? This is about a stuffy, old English author with a distaste for the lowbrow who happens to step into the wrong movie, Hot Pants College 2. He becomes infatuated with its teen heart-throb star (Jason Priestley) and goes on to stalk and befriend him. Just a brilliantly written slow-burn character study."

"Stephen Frears’s The Hit is John Hurt (in a truly frightening performance) and a young, punked-out, Chinese-star-throwing Tim Roth (ditto) as two hit men transporting stool pigeon Terence Stamp (what a fucking cast!) from Spain to Paris to meet retribution from the crime boss he put away. Add seductive Laura del Sol and music by Roger Waters and Eric Clapton and you have one of my favorite British crime movies ever."

Full-On Belly Laughs Galore
I haven't been as devoted to this podcast as much as others but occasionally check in and binge. I listened to the Paul Rudd episode and laughed so hard tears streamed down my cheeks and my stomach hurt. I went on to listen to several more, including Neil Young, Tina Fey, Zach Galifianakis, and John Oliver. All of them were wonderful. The podcast is a relaxed setting so everyone lets their guard down and doesn't take themselves too seriously and they have time to share stories. It's a delightful, fun romp through the brilliant minds of Conan O'Brien and his guests. Never a dull moment.

"A young John Hurt plays a bitter art school drop-out who forms his own fascist political movement, the Party of Dynamic Erection. It’s very proto-Withnail & I, and it’s not lost on me that George Harrison was involved in producing both Little Malcolm and Withnail. So it’s cool to think that my favorite Beatle helped make the best two movies about crazy assholes in trench coats screaming at each other in shitty apartments. Mike Leigh directed the original production of the play of Little Malcolm and I can also see how the Scrawdyke character may have informed him in creating Johnny from Naked, another misogynistic, visionary crackpot trying to assert his manhood."

International Star Fest
Not knowing what to classify this movie as has been difficult. It has many aspects and genres attached to it. From horror to action to drama and nail biting thrills, Snowpiercer is an absolute ride that takes its viewer on a twisted and winded road through ice caps and snow drifts, culminating with a catastrophic turn of events that left me wondering what the fuck could happen next.
I recognized a few of the foreign to me actors. Seeing Tilda Swinton in an almost comedic role was awesome. Chris Evans left no inclination that he had ever played the wholesome Captain America with this part. Admiting to canibalism, while shedding tears of regret and shame, a truly awesome performance.
This film keeps it coming through its length, but there were moments of boredom about half way through, hence the 9 rating.
If you're looking for something thrilling to kill an afternoon with, I highly recommend Snowpiercer.
