Story: Blood Father starts as John Link (Gibson) who has recovered from his own substance abuse problems to be a tattooist while being parole. He has been searching for his daughter for years but when Lydia (Moriarty) calls him in need of help he races to her aid.
Link finds out that Lydia is in over her head which leads him into going on the run breaking his parole to protect her and locate the people who are trying to kill his daughter, using old connections along the way.
Thoughts on Blood Father
Characters – John Link is a former alcoholic convict, he has cleaned himself up but when his daughter finds herself in trouble he must go back into the routes that left him in prison, he must go after the men trying to kill his daughter, while stopping himself going off the bandwagon. Lydia is the teenager daughter runaway, she finds herself in too deep with the drug cartels but now she needs to trust her father to keep her safe. Jonah is the boyfriend of Lydia that she believes she killed cause the effects of the film. Preacher is one of the people Link turns to for help while Kirby is his support while trying to stay off the drinks.
Performances – Mel Gibson might have had troubled times recently but he shows us here the talent he holds to lead a movie in the action genre. Erin Moriarty is good in this film too because she shows us a street wise character beyond her years. Diego Luna is solid as the villain but we just don’t get enough from his character. This is a problem through the film, we don’t give the support characters enough time.
Story – The story is good, as it follows a distant father daughter relationship needing to rebuild after she finds herself in trouble with the law. This works for the story because we know how the aging hero is the new thing now, as an actor that can easily be the new one that saves his child and this gives us everything we want, we have moments of comedy as the two come from difference backgrounds but overall this is everything you would expect it to be
Action/Crime – The action is fire fights between Link and anyone that gets in his way, this does work well as the crime side of the story takes us into.
Settings – The settings show us the underworld that works for the hiding from potential trouble using no iconic landmarks which makes this fully believable.
Scene of the Movie – Showdown
That Moment That Annoyed Me – We don’t learn enough about the villains.
Final Thoughts – This is a good action film that is enjoyable, short sweet and gives you everything you want.
Overall: Action film 101.

Relentless Action

So John Wick 3 is a straight follow on from John Wick 2 and boy do we know it. The action starts exactly where it left off and is relentless for the first 30 minutes of the movie. The first fight scene in the Library is epic and sets the tone for the rest of the movie.
The story is what is lacking in this movie. John has been left excommunicado (all services removed) and is trying to find a way back and the reason for this is so he can remember his late wife. As you would expect with someone in his line of work he has things in place for this type of scenario but they are things we have already seen in the last 2 movies and it leaves you wanting more from it, the lack of depth is quite frustrating. It almost felt like they set all the action scenes and then tried to decide what story they could put in to link them all together nicely.
The fight scene with Halle Berry and her dogs should have been amazing and was to a degree but I felt like she was almost made the star of the movie for that period, just to show that women can do this too. Feels like everyone is having to show that this isn't just a man thing anymore for fear of being sexist.
Mark Dacascos was a piece of light entertainment to all the action and violence when he meets John and some of their scenes were entertaining if a little out of place.
The movie felt like they are struggling to think of what story they can use to move this forward now and are relying on the action to do that. Due to the choreography and action being so amazing you can get away with it, to a degree.
John Wick 4 feels like it will head in the same vain as this one as we still didn't get to see much about the High Table and I think John will decide that the table needs to be thrown out!!!
Non stop action and amazing fight scenes makes this movie amazing and what you want to see. Just make sure you remember thats what you came to see when watching.

Powerful
I have to be honest, I haven't seen a lot of Spike Lee's work although I loved Inside Man when that came out. So I wasnt entirely sure what to expect with this film, but I was pleasantly surprised.
This is definitely a strange film. It packs a powerful message but then is full of moments of sheer hilarity, which is definitely welcome in otherwise heavy scenes. But for the most part this doesn't detract from the true story this is telling. To be frank, some of this film is very disturbing to watch and the last 5/10 minutes that link to more recent events is harrowing and almost verging on overkill. The acting is second to none, especially Adam Driver and John David Washington, and the script and dialogue are very clever and witty. I do think this may be a little heavy handed at times and a little too long, but it's still a powerful and moving film.

Follow the zombie outbreak as it happens in the small Northern English town of Runcorn, with journal entries from survivor John Diant, bringing you the apocalypse from his perspective as he goes in search for his missing daughter with his retro, chain smoking best friend 80s Dave.
Bloody brilliant!! I laughed so much! In my opinion it was well written and definitely funny. Love finding little gems like this especially from British authors. The Geese were just a fantastic idea and I loved this apocalypse included animals too. Loved the bloke throw zombies off the high rise block of flats and the zombies heads on pikes.
Can’t wait to read more I would recommend give these authors a go! X

Death in a Northern Town continues with No Rest for the Living. Journal entries from survivor John Diant bring you the zombie apocalypse from his perspective whilst chapters bring you tales from the town and the struggles that survivors continue to face.
Absolutely brilliant again! I had to stop myself laughing my head off at 3am in case I woke my husband. These books are so funny,gory and well written. This one was a bit more serious than the first poor Jonathan being killed that way to was not good I’m sad to see him go but I do love an author that doesn’t hold back when finishing characters off not matter the length of time in the book.
I’m really looking forward to the next book.

Space ... the Final frontier ...
The latest (at the time of reviewing) Star Trek film - from 5 years ago, so 2016 - this is the third film to be set in the so-called Kelvin Universe (after 'Star Trek' and 'Star Trek: Into Darkness'), still starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho and (the late) Anton Yelchin as Kirk, Spock, 'Bones' McCoy, Lt Uhura, Scotty, Sulu and Chekov respectively.
This time around, Idris Elba plays the baddie role as a character who later proves to have a surprising link with The Federation, with the film also apparently including 50 new alien species as it was released in the year of the 50th anniversary of the TV series.
And therein lies part of the problem: that was hardly broadcast at all - indeed, I feel that they missed a major trick in not broadcasting that fact at all!
While the loose outline of the plot deals with ageing, and with a farewell given to Ambassador Spock, this is perfectly serviceable but not as good as the original film in the Kelvin trilogy (IMO).
This time around, Idris Elba plays the baddie role as a character who later proves to have a surprising link with The Federation, with the film also apparently including 50 new alien species as it was released in the year of the 50th anniversary of the TV series.
