Josephine Jones has just move to the big city and is in need of a job. She finds one where her job is to input information into a database. She will sit in an office with smudged pink walls, in a building with no windows. Her only job is to enter the information and don't ask questions. But curiosity is a part of human nature. Will she be able to continue the job when she discovers what it is she is really doing?
Thank you to NetGalley and Henry Holt for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Josephine and Joseph Jones have left the hinterland(the place they call home) for the big city. I'm not sure what city they are in or what kind of people Josephine and Joseph are. Sometimes Josephine calls Joseph by a number 041-74-3400. They jump around their new city from sublet to sublet, each with one disgusting trait or another. Like black bubbling coming from the bathtub and gray sheets on the futon that were at some time in their life white.
This was a short story that captivated my attention, but also had me confused. There didn't seem to be enough time to tell the background of the story or develop the characters enough to really get to know them. There wasn't a name to the city they were living in and Josephine constantly refers to her boss as "The Person with Bad Breath". Overall this book was pretty good and I would read more by this author.

Rick Hoffman is down on his luck. He's just lost his high paying job and along with it, is long term girlfriend. Forced to move back into his childhood home, a place that has been abandoned for many years, he makes a startling discovery that will change his life forever. But will it change it for better or for worse. Will Rick be able to stay alive long enough to get to the bottom of who his father was and ultimately who he is?
This is the first book I have read by Joseph Finder. I have had a number of his books on my TBR list for a while and after seeing him on an interview on my Facebook feed, I decided to give it a try. The Fixer was the only book that I was able to find at the time. I was hooked from the start. At about 50%-75% through the book my interest dwindled a little bit, but that last part of the book was hard to put down. I had to know who was at the end of the mystery. Was it who I was suspecting, or a character you would never guess? Overall this was a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading more Joseph Finder titles.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Buried Secrets (Nick Heller, #2) in Books

I won this book as a First Reads giveaway on Goodreads. I had never read any of the Nick Heller series so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Let me begin by saying I was pleasantly surprised. The book is well written with deep, meaningful characters. It was filled with nonstop action and enough suspense for three books. I think I havediscovered a new favorite series! Nick Heller is comprable to Berry's Cotton Malone without being an obvious knock-off. I truly enjoyed this book & will be looking for more Joseph Finder books in the future.

Annie is the brains behind the Bad Bachelor website. It has brought a myriad of emotions to women around NYC and beyond. Some people are for the site and others want her to shut it down for ruining lives. Either way Annie knows it is helping most women navigate the dating world and she doesnt want to take that away from them. She has firmly stayed out of the dating world since her relationship ended years ago when she chose her family over her relationship. Joseph is never far from her thoughts but that is as close as she wants him, until she knocks him into a pond by accident.
Joseph has returned home again after making a name for himself overseas. He hasnt stopped thinking about Annie much over the years, as his ex fiancé can attest to. He is hoping to get a chance to have a good heart to heart with her and apologize for leaving her the way he did. While contemplating his thoughts at their spot by the pond he literally bumps into his past.
Annie and Joseph didnt have a great conversational past and they both fully admit it. Now that theyve gotten a second chance will they make the best of it this time or fall back into their old habits? Annie doesnt want to fall back into her past, especially while she is being threatened by someone over the Bad Bachelors website but she needs Josephs help to find out who is behind the threats.
Bad Influence is the third book in the Bad Bachelor series and a great continuation of the storylines. I received an advance copy from Netgalley without expectation for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own. A 4 ½ star read, personally I found some slower parts to the story but overall a very good read. You dont have to read in any order as each is a standalone but if you want background on the other 2 main couples and/or the website I would recommend starting with book one, Bad Bachelor.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated The Mummy (1932) in Movies
Oct 8, 2019 (Updated Mar 4, 2020)
Boris Karloff
The Mummy- is spooky, horrorfying, excellent, creepy and more . Boris Karloff is terrorfying as Ardath Bey / Imhotep / The Mummy. He is so creepy in this film, you will have nightmares.
The Plot: A team of British archaeologists led by Sir Joseph Whemple (Arthur Byron) discover the mummified remains of the ancient Egyptian prince Imhotep (Boris Karloff), along with the legendary scroll of Thoth. When one of the archaeologists recites the scroll aloud, Imhotep returns to life, but escapes. Several years later, Imhotep has taken on the guise of a wealthy man, as he searches Egypt for his lost love, who he believes has been reincarnated as the lovely Helen Grosvenor (Zita Johann).
I would highly reccordmend this movie.
