I wanted to see this film after I read the book in October. And for a film adaptation, it wasn’t half bad. Sure there were things obviously different from the books and they have set it out differently to the book. But all things considered, I enjoyed watching it. I just felt that for a horror film, it wasn’t that scary- not even the jump scares and Pennywise- he is legit scary in the book. Also, I thought the film would have been better if they kept some elements from the book in the film too, like Maturin. On another plus side, the acting was done well.

This novel is commonly known as the first true English novel, as well as the first epistolary novel. I've taken numerous British and English Literature classes, but had not been introduced to this novel until I studied in England and took an English novel class taught by a German professor who learned English solely so he could read Shakespeare in the vernacular. I'm glad that this prof included this wonderful novel. It was a nice change from just assigning Jane Eyre and Great Expectations.
It's an interesting study on Pamela, and spawned so many great, satirical novels. This is definitely a must read if you like classic literature and enjoy reading the novels that shaped the literature of today.

"Rocket To Russia is a great record and that was kind of my entry point, my first experience with the Ramones - then I got to go back and discover the first two. Leave Home is great too. Fuck, you could just say the first Ramones record or any Ramones record but Rocket To Russia was my first introduction to Johnny Ramone’s guitar playing. We would read about the Ramones in Punk magazine and see these pictures of Johnny Ramone downstroking and I got to finally see them in like ‘79. That was a great year for me as I saw the Ramones and – and this will take us into the next record – The Clash."

Erika (17789 KP) rated Truth Seekers - Season 1 in TV

I watched this entire season on Halloween. I've delayed my review because I can't really figure out if I just thought it was a seven or eight.
I'm a huge fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, both together and apart.
First, main groaner was that Simon Pegg wasn't in it enough.
I liked the overall storyline, but, the whole time I was hoping it didn't turn out that the wife's disappearance ended up like Butcher's situation in the Boys.
The two little twists were ok, but telegraphed. The vfxs were cool, in terms of how the ghosts appeared.
There were not many laugh-out-loud moments, which I wasn't expecting. I really hope there's a season 2!

"I just got this in the mail one day. Some stranger in Brazil sent it and wrote, "You'll like this". Because it's a thin book, I read it. If it had been a thick book, I would have discarded it. I was shocked by how charming and amusing it was. I couldn't believe he lived as long ago as he did. You would've thought he wrote it yesterday. It's so modern and so amusing. It's a very, very original piece of work. It rang a bell in me, in the same way that The Catcher in the Rye did. It was about subject matter that I liked and it was treated with great wit, great originality and no sentimentality."

"I should do something that’s a little more contemporary, maybe. Some Like It Hot. Marilyn Monroe in that film was one of my first memories of film. That’s why I love it. I remember watching it when I was really young and singing along. Well, those are really artistic choices, but I also love modern films. I love Chaplin films, and I love French films… But off the top of my head, those are the five. It’s quite a pretentious list in hindsight. [laughs] I mean, they’re not my favorites; I could go on for ten hours. That was just off the top of my head. But I’ve never been good with favorites."
