Kristin (149 KP) rated Diary of a haunting in Books
Dec 7, 2018
I saw the cover and immediately jumped on this book. Haven't read a good horror in a while, and I was super intrigued. Diary style, no issues with that. Kinda cool in some ways, as we get the MC's version of what's going on in her own words. I even found myself a little creeped out at some points.
This book would've been a solid 4-star rating if it weren't for that ending. It was almost like the author took too long, got to the day before the deadline, then just cobbled some nonsense together and said, "Here, take it." Still, not a bad read up until the last 15 pages or so, and could still be decent for those who aren't uber horror fans.

Good film just not as good as book
IT been a while since I e watched this film but it does hold up to how I remembered it. I will admit I'm not as completely invested in the charcter of film as much as I am in the book. However that a preference thing. For me Isaac plot line in the book kept me more captivated and while Nat Wolfe provided comedic role in this film I wish I had seen the computer game scence where he tells the computer to hump the wall and he doesn't understand. However on the whole this is a decent adaptation and I do like Hazel and Gus chemistry

It's an okay read
The premise behind this book was really interesting. That combined with the fact that it is such a short read made me decide to give it a chance. Over all it wasn't bad, however it does itself a disservice by being so short. This could have easily been a 200 page book, so at only 67 pages it feels as if parts are missing. I was never able to connect with the main character, and his relationship with others seemed forced. He was a jerk at the beginning of the book, and he didn't change enough to redeem himself. The main theme of this book is discrimination, but just like everything else the book failed to truly convey it in a meaningful way within its short chapters.

A little dull and lacking
I didn’t particularly think much of the book for this, it was a little too sickly sweet. The film however appears to ignore most of the sickly sweet fluffiness and at least embraces the serious side of the story about the war. However that doesn’t mean it’s any better. Instead it comes across as rather dull and the plot itself is entirely predictable. It has a great cast, with Lily James, Michiel Huisman and Matthew Goode notably standing out, so at least they make it watchable. It’s just a shame that the story has had most of the detail and heart taken out of it - it seems like a very long film yet isn’t particularly detailed. Another one to add to the ‘read the book instead’ pile.
Merissa (13619 KP) rated Covet (Vampire Erotic Theatre #1) in Books
Dec 17, 2018
If you are looking for a hot, sensual and thrilling (on more than one level) quick read, then I suggest you try out Felicity Heaton's first book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series. This book lets you dip your toe in the vampire's world. It gives you a run down on the difference between the two sets of vampires and gives you a quick insight into what their world is like. There are characters in here that make the story very intriguing - and not just Javier and Lilah!
I love the groundwork that the author has put down, these details are what makes a book special and very, very readable.
If you want something bland and boring, then pass by this Novella. This is hot and spicy - loved it!

I saw this on Scribd and thought, "Ooh, I want to read that." It sounded good, the cover is amazing and it was free for me. So why not?
Unfortunately once I started reading, I thought it sounded a lot like Meg Cabot's [b:Abandon|9397967|Abandon (Abandon Trilogy, #1)|Meg Cabot|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1324767084s/9397967.jpg|11351526] and I found it rather difficult to get into, though I think that was down to the "then" and "now" storyline and not the similarities between this and the other.
I can't say I felt anything for any of the characters or their predicament and I just lost interest in it all. That's were my 2 star rating comes from. It was okay, but not for me.

Finally giving this story up. DNF @ 27%
I'm not the biggest fan of erotica, so this was a little iffy for me going in. I thought it would be better because its plot sounded interesting: Men and women who work for an agency who seduce people to find out business secrets, plots for bad things, microchips etc, but Jade--the main character--starts to have feelings for her target.
I'm not sure if it was the writing style or just the way the author had decided to play the story out but I couldn't get into it. It was really heavy on the sex in that first 25% and like I said not a fan of too much sex.
I really need to stay away from books that are more sex than romance.

Nickg24 (492 KP) rated John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019) in Movies

Weakest of the trilogy but still enjoyable
So this movie picks up right where chapter 2 ended with john going on the run.A brutal first 20 minutes of action follows (the library scene is brilliant) but once that is over the story starts to get a little dull.Everything feels rushed with john going from one country to another, then the massive fight scene with halle berry and 2 german shepherd dogs which felt like it had so much going on in it that you just couldn't keep up with it.
But thankfully once john is back on home soil things improve again leading up to the big finale at the continental hotel. All in all another excellent addition to the franchise and things are set up for a fourth movie to come along in the future
