Watched on Disney plus last night as I was only a baby when this happened back I 1970 which makes me 53 years old now and over the years I've seen clips of the Incident with Bob hope and the protesters anyway the film itself its decent enough viewing from the cast the costumes the look of the set design overall decent movie not my normal cup of tea

I'm not sure what it was about this. The storyline and characters...or how closely it resembled Pride and Prejudice (I'm thinking of the film: the Keira Knightley one since it's the only one I've seen). But I really liked it. In fact I pretty much devoured it

It was definitely a fun young adult, modernised version and I wouldn't mind reading more like this or more books by the author.

"This has to be up there. There are parts of this movie that I think are perfect — like when [Andrew Lincoln] is flipping the cards for Keira Knightley. I just died. I think I was in love with Keira too; when I would see her, I could get that heartbreak he felt. For some reason, there’s so many aspects of love in that movie — it all resonates with you one way or another, and there’s such humor and different stories, young and old. There’s all kinds of relationships — it’s family and taking care of them even if you have to sacrifice your own romantic love. I always watch it and am always overwhelmed with how good it is. It’s amazing."

The Aftermath (2019)
2019 | Drama, Romance, War
Yet another Keira Knightley costume drama about well-brought-up people grappling with their repressed emotions. This one is set in post-war Germany where KK is an army wife reunited with her officer husband (Jason Clarke doing an English accent), but she ends up knocking off the German widower (Alexander Skarsgard) whose house they have commandeered.

Decent production values but the performances aren't good enough to lift a story which feels trite, hackneyed and inconsequential. No sense of passion or danger, hard to care about anyone or anything in the movie; it's just incredibly dull and predictable.

Keira Knightley - the part is her. (2 more)
James McAvoy - he is without doubt one of the best actors of today.
Saoirse Ronan - she really made me hate her character.

Warning in full description.
First time I've ever watched this tonight. Now, even normally I cry at this kind of film but I'm 5 months pregnant.
DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE- AVOID WHILST PREGNANT. I was an absolute snivelling, blubbering mess. It really does hurt your heart to watch, it's also different than most stories you'll see regarding the ending. (I hope, if you've seen it, that makes sense 😊)
Definitely a tear jerker, has its lovely moments but mostly really sad.
