Dean (6921 KP) rated Peaches (2000) in Movies

One of Kelly Reilly earliest films. Low budget and with very little in way of a story as such. It's not particularly funny either.
Imogen SB (4507 KP) rated the PC version of Return of The Obra Dinn in Video Games

'A beautifully constructed and powerfully atmospheric mystery that you really have to work to solve.'

Dean (6921 KP) rated Ripper (2001) in Movies

A very good low budget slasher with a neat twist. Students at a university studying Jack the Ripper start being bumped off. One of Kelly Brook's few film appearances.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2065 KP) rated Murder at Redwood Cove in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Kelly Jackson has flown into a small town in Mendocino County to run a bed and breakfast for her boss. The previous manager fell to his death off a cliff, and Kelly quickly begins to wonder if it was murder. As strange events start happening, Kelly is certain of her conclusion. But can she prove it before something else bad happens?
The book doesn’t waste much time debating whether a murder happened or not, instead spending time on Kelly trying to prove it. There’s plenty to keep you reading to find out exactly what is going on. The characters are super strong, and I fell in love with them. The suspects were a tad weak, but that’s a minor complaint. The writing needed a bit more polish near the beginning, but again, that’s a minor complaint.

This fun between the books e-novella focuses on Kelly, the daughter of the main character. She's just beginning to develop her gift of seeing and speaking to ghosts, but she gets involved in a mystery when a woman approaches her and asks if Kelly can figure out if the woman's condo is haunted. Will Kelly solve the mystery? I found it fun to see a minor character from the series take a larger role in this book, and Granny is a hoot as always. I just wish it had been longer.

Billie Wichkan (118 KP) rated Bitter Edge (DI Kelly Porter #4) in Books
May 22, 2019
With thanks to Netgalley and Canelo for this ARC in exchange for an open and honest review.
DI Kelly Porter is back, but so is an old foe and this time he won’t back down...
When a teenage girl flings herself off a cliff in pursuit of a gruesome death, DI Kelly Porter is left asking why. Ruled a suicide, there’s no official reason for Kelly to chase answers, but as several of her team’s cases converge on the girl’s school, a new, darker story emerges. One which will bring Kelly face-to-face with an old foe determined to take back what is rightfully his – no matter the cost.
This is another DI Kelly Porter and is no less exciting than the others. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the plot twist was very unexpected. The setting is in the beautiful Lake District and the author does a great job with the descriptions.
The characters are very well developed and the story flows so well and fast paced.
The story line has different threads which are never dropped and weave nicely together, is written with empathy towards teenagers and the pressures they are under in this social media/digital age. This is a very different direction from the previous 3 she has written.
I'm not going to give any of the plot away.
I loved the book and highly recommend.
