Jackson Jones goes from hero to zero when he gets braces. But that's also how he finds out about the super spies operating out of his elementary school. This book is funny and creative while still delivering a credible plot (well, for a spy spoof). Kids of all ages will love it.

Harper Bliss touches on another sensitive subject in this book. It begs to question if bullies can change and can we forgive. I really like how Bliss approaches this because often kids bully because they are trying to protect themselves and can chage once away from the negative influence. It took alot of courage for the characters to do what they do in this book. I will be recommending this book.

OK but over rated
Reminds of Steven King films from the 80s. Tension, atmosphere and retro feel abounds but is badly let down by pacing of the story. Encompasses that era really well with nice touches but the story of the first series could and should have been a film instead of being stretched out, there's just not enough plot to go around.

Nicky Whelan is cast perfectly and puts in a convincing performance (2 more)
The storyline is somewhat believable - anyone with kids can relate to parts of it
It improves over time after a sluggish start
Why cast Nicholas Cage as an almost completely generic father? (3 more)
Big plot holes
Weak twist
Some very wooden acting from support cast, especially Natalie Eva Marie
An intriguing enough tale of deception let down through poor execution

Greg Rich finds himself sucked back through time to early 1600's Paris where he must unite teenage musketeers to save his parents. A kids book that combines elements of fantasy with historical fiction, I enjoyed it, although I did find the set up a bit too long.

Well done
This movie was better than I expected. While it was low budget, it was a very intense and powerful story revolving around human trafficking. The cinematography was done well. Though no big name actors, several were easily recognizable and the performances were pretty good. The story unfolded very smoothly and was emotional and thought provoking. Not for the kids but this drama is definitely worth a watch.

Great!
This one was on Netflix(not exclusive). An awesome crime thriller that is full of twists and turns in the story. Charlize Theron was (as always) amazing, as was the rest of the cast. The cinematography was great and the story unfolded with a slow churning intensity. Some mild violence, but otherwise nothing too bad for kids. However, I'd say it's more of an adult tale. Really worth a watch!

Supernatural horror
I started watching this movie on Netflix unsure of what to expect. It turned out to be surprisingly good. It's a monster story unlike any I've seen. Very creative and unique. The acting was good and the effects, while minimal, were excellent. The story played out very well and the cinematography was very well done. Kids probably won't like it much, but this one is really worth a watch.

About what you expect
I must admit I did enjoy this. Unfortunately for game adaptation it is what you expect, cheesy dialogue, masses of action and Dwayne Johnson doing what he does best. But making a film out of a basic button bashing game is a tall order and it was well done. Touching funny and kept the kids entertained. If you want a film with plenty of action watch this.

Anothrr Film 4 offering which I only ended up watching as I misread Emma Roberts for Emma Watson! Not that I have anything against Roberts but generally her films have been for kids. Anyhow I watched it and I was glad I did. Roberts and Franco have good chemistry and carry the movie well. There is a good moral to this story which is very relevant in this day and age.
