Dean (6927 KP) rated The Visit (2015) in Movies

Something different
A decent mix of thriller and Horror as 2 kids pay a visit to grandparents they have never met before. There are a couple of scenes that will give a chill down the back of your neck. The only real downer was the finale was a little weak. With all M. Night Shymalan films though you know a twist is coming.

Erika (17789 KP) rated The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018) in Movies

Well, this was a predictable, but pretty movie. I think I may have gotten to the point in my life where I sympathize more with the adults than the bratty kids. Or, maybe because the father was Mr. Darcy.
The best thing was the visuals, and the fact that a real-life ballerina was actually used to perform. Misty Copeland danced beautifully and seeing it in 3D was amazing.

Awesome kids book
I loved reading this book as a kid. I enjoyed the movie but it was very different from the book. The one thing the movie kept was her "gift" otherwise I remember it as being very different than the book. Its been a long time since I read this book, so I can't give a full length review other than to say it was an awesome read.

Carma (21 KP) rated Only You (Love to the Rescue, #3.5) in Books

Really cute. I havenÂ’t read any other book in this series but I didnÂ’t feel like I walked into the middle at all. Quick novella but it didnÂ’t move too quickly at all. Loved the history and interaction between characters. Especially like the way Noah is portrayed on the spectrum and defining some ticks etc some autistic kids experience. Would love to read another by this author soon!!

AT (1676 KP) rated Runaways, Vol. 2: Teenage Wasteland in Books

I liked the first volume, and normally love Brian K. Vaughan's writing, but this one just didn't pull me in. I think there was just a little too much teenage drama during part of this volume. It looks like that may be over, though, so hopefully 3 will be better. Cloak and Dagger make an appearance in volume 2, while the kids continue to try to stay hidden.

Night Reader Reviews (683 KP) rated Barney's Great Adventure (1998) in Movies

I can remember watching Barney when I was little but this movie was one that even I did not like much. I tried watching it with my own children here recently and found that they didn't like it either. I am not sure why but unlike the tv show this movie just can't seem to hold their attention.
