Murder Crosses Tribal Lines
It’s early December on the Navajo reservation. Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn, who works for the Navajo Tribal Police, has been called to work on a case involving two missing boys. There is a huge pool of blood at the last place they were scene. One of them, a Navajo, was seen the next morning and is wanted as a witness, although some suspect he might be the killer. The other is a Zuni youth, and that just complicates the case for Leaphorn since that tribe has their own police department. As Leaphorn investigates further, he finds many things that just don’t add up for him. Can he make sense of it, find the missing boys, and catch a killer before the killer strikes again?
Leaphorn is much more of the main character this time around, but we still haven’t met Chee. It’s interesting to see how this series evolves over time. The mystery is strong here, especially since there is a thriller element to it that kept me engrossed. I did feel the discussion of Navajo culture slowed things down at times; those passages can be a double-edged sword. Still, this is a book that fans old and new will find entertaining.

Billie Wichkan (118 KP) rated The Killer in Me (Frankie Sheehan, #2) in Books
May 22, 2019
Detective Chief Superintendent Frankie Sheehan does not wish to linger on the grisly scene before her eyes. Two mutilated corpses. In a church. In Clontarf. Her profiling background screams one fact: this is just the beginning of a sickening message.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old case is playing out on a TV documentary, the convicted professing his innocence and historical police errors being exposed daily in the media. Frankie's superior, commissioner Donna Hegarty, makes no bones about who she expects to clean things up - both in terms of past mishandlings and the present murders.
But not everyone working the cases wants the truth to come out. And the corridors of power have their own vested interest. Soon Frankie pinpoints just what is making her so nervous: the fact that anyone could be the next victim when justice is the killer.
The Killer In Me is a fast-paced thriller in which lies are safer than the truth, the past is never far from the present, and the ability to kill could well, it seems, live in everyone.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Quercus Books for an advance copy of The Killer in Me.
The Killer in Me is the second novel to feature Dublin based Detective Chief Superintendent Frankie Sheehan of An Garda Síochánas Bureau for Serious Crime.
I could use a lot of words to describe this book and how much I liked it, but I want to summarize it in few words: it's amazing and gripping.
This novel is fast paced and full of twists and turns which just ramp the suspense level up.
I was gripped from the start and read this book in one go. It is really well written and very cleverly thought out.
Dark and intense, this story is told wonderfully well.
I found the characters very interesting and also full of depth.
Lot of red herrings about to keep you guessing all the way to the end.
Highly Recommend.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Quercus Books for an advance copy of The Killer in Me; this is my honest voluntary review.

An ok straight to DVD horror. Good production values and a young fresh cast. However it feels a bit disjointed at times, whether thats due to poor story or editing. I still struggle with the real motive for the killer to chase the girls down so many years later?? Could have been a lot better, instead it's just good in patches.

Probably the best book in the series so far.
While this series' books aren't bad reading i better get some g--damn answers soon. I don't like being strung along, thank you very much.
I don't trust Shepard. I'm to believe _______ is the killer? Excuse me if i skip the rest of the books and read the wiki for verification.

Gosh, I wanted this to be so much better than it was. One of the main reasons I wanted to see it was because it was one of Anton Yelchin's last movies. The music was definitely killer, and so was the fashion. Olivia Cook and Anya Taylor-Joy were great together. It was entertaining overall, I just had unrealistic expectations. RIP Anton <3

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated Whack A Mole (John Ceepak Mystery, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
John Ceepak finds a ring buried on the beach. It leads him down a trail toward a long dormant serial killer who may be poised to strike again. The first half was fairly obvious, but the second half picked up.

Mar 9, 2018
Bert is working for a nasty divorce lawyer, but when her boss is shot, she and her twin Nan team up to find the killer. A bit slower than the rest of the series, but these twins are always fun.

Harshini (25 KP) rated Killer Game in Books

Loved it
This book is really good! The premise is awesome and something I can actually see happening. I wish we could play the game at my university, but that may be breaking a few Health and Safety rules. I also liked the idea of a society solely for this game.
