I've had this one on my Kindle for a few years now, putting it off for one reason or another so it's about time I read it.

This starts with Troy Brennan going to church confessional to kill the priest who gave private information to someone who then went and killed Troy's dad. Fast forward three years and we meet Sparrow who is suddenly finding herself marrying Troy but doesn't know why and isn't happy about it.

When I decided to read this, it hadn't registered with me that it was going to be a little dark. It isn't that bad, really. We see Troy kill the priest at the beginning but other than that he doesn't really do anything that bad. It's just it's Christmas and reading something like this at this time of the year feels a little wrong - and I think after the "All for the Game" trilogy I read that I'm done for Dark books for the rest of the year.

I didn't entirely understand the romance in this one, either. Half the time Troy wasn't even interested in her and she was pretty much just a way for him to have sex so I wasn't really feeling it. Not even towards the end when everything came out and they mellowed towards the other. Maybe as I mentioned above, I just wasn't in the mood.

This is something like my sixth or seventh book by the author but it isn't my favourite.

3.5 stars. 3 star for the first half. 4 star for the second half.

Well, I downloaded this as a freebie back in 2012 and it had been sitting on my kindle for ages so as part of Goodreads' "We (heart) YA"'s ABC challenge I decided to read this.

For the first 20-25% I was a little bored with it, finding it hard to get into and Ivy's friends were hard to like. However when Brant really came a part of her life, after the school classes and he more or less saved her, I started to really get into it. Romance reader and all... :)

I really liked the progression of their relationship going from wary classmates to boyfriend/girlfriend. It was a complicated journey thanks to Ivy wanting someone else who wanted her friend but they got there in the end.

As for the plot to blow up the school...I was stumped as to who was behind it. I think I ran through every member of the plot apart from the ones we were centring on. Still had no idea.

I feel I ought to mention Charlie too. She was pretty cool and seems like she'd be a great friend to have.

I know there's a second book in the series but after reading the synopsis of it I'm not sure I want to read it, mainly because it sounds like Brant and Ivy aren't together anymore :(

Broken Destiny ( Hidden Academy book 1)
By Serena Lindahl

Having spent the last seven years in an orphanage, Zosia is shocked when someone tells her she's a sphinx and the last guardian of the sentient library of Supernaturals. The elite academy which houses the powerful library rejects her because she isn't perfect, but she knows instantly that the library is where she belongs. She ignores the academy's decree and gathers others around her - four guardians who are just as perfectly imperfect as she is.

But her powers, her ability to shift, and her strength are tied up in the memories she can't bear to access - memories of torture as a young girl - horrible acts which made her the way she is. When the library is all that stands between two ignorant factions trying to cause a war, it's up to her and her guardians to prevent it. But first, she has to face her worst fears - including believing in herself.

***This book is a reverse harem, why choose, slow-burn adventure. Some topics may be triggering and/or of a sensitive nature. (Past physical abuse) ***

This was a beautiful book to read! It flowed so well the story was an interesting twist from your normal perfect female role and perfect harem of men! It was a refreshing read not all about getting their kit off! I’m looking forward to reading more in this series!

Revelations ( The Nephilim series book 1)
By A.P. Foote

Imagine a world where everyone lives in peace. Supernaturals aren’t real and the only thing you have to fear are humans. Got that? Okay. Now, forget all of it, because that’s not my world.
Moving from Plant City, Florida to Seattle, Washington was supposed to be my do-over. No reminders of the pain and no supernaturals. But I was very, very wrong. The angels disappeared long ago--so we thought--but vampires, demons, warlocks, shifters…you name it, they’re all over the place. They control this town and everything in it. Four of them even claim I am their destined mate. The worst part? The demon, Azazel, wants me. And not in the best way.
I’ve just discovered I’m Lucifer’s daughter as well as the most powerful Nephilim on the planet. But that doesn’t stop Azazel. He wants my soul and will do anything to have it.
With the help of my mates and a few unexpected friends I’ve picked up along the way, we will eliminate the threat while making a statement to anyone else who tries to disrupt order on this plane or any other. Easy, right?

This was exactly what I wanted I love anything written around the angels and demons scene also throw the geek or Roman gods in too! This was fast paced and kept you engrossed! A new author for me and I really enjoyed this book!

Ares is mine ( Gods and Monsters book 3)
By Mila Young

I'm a Hero. Created to fight Chaos. Sworn to act as Zeus' spear to avenge Olympus.

And I need to fight harder.

When death comes for those I love, I fight. And despite the radiant love of Apollo and the swelling love of Poseidon, I must find room to embrace war. That means getting close to Ares.

To win a war you need allies you can trust and who trust each other. Apollo, Poseidon, and Ares don't see eye to eye at the best of times. Throw my deepening love for each of them into the mix and it seems impossible. I need to convince all of them we're on the same side, and war makes for strange bedfellows.
Then there's Hades. He might be the key to our success, or the trigger for our doom. But he triggers the best and worst in me, and I can't help but melt into his darkness.

Can a brooding vicious war god help me to fight this war across multiple fronts. Can the god of war even show love? Ares is Mine.

Elyse is back!! Kick I king ass and we got some double God action gotta say kinda hot!! I love these books can’t believe Hades is the last one and I’m hoping he gets some love he’s my favourite misunderstood God! By the way Zeus sucks!!!

Graceful trees and historic buildings fill Savannah, Georgia, but beneath the city's Southern splendor, its supernatural roots run deep. The members of local witch families grace the society pages...when they're not secretly protecting their magical work from dark forces.

Savannah resident Mercy Taylor may now be in control of the South's most powerful family of witches, but she's struggling to master her newfound magic. Pregnant with her first child and still reeling from a heartbreaking betrayal, she just wants to be able to use her supernatural abilities without accidentally destroying dishes or blasting the doors off buildings.

But when Mercy's long-presumed-dead mother suddenly returns, begging Mercy to keep her presence under wraps, the witch wonders how many secrets her family is hiding...and who she can really trust. And when the danger around her intensifies to deadly levels, Mercy knows she must discover the truth behind her family's magic - before it destroys her.

I loved the first book! The second did not disappoint at all it was brilliantly done. The intricate relationships woven throughout both books are special in every way. Nothing seems forced and it all flows so well. I think the changes to come are exciting and so is the new baby!! I did she’s a tear at the end kinda gonna miss Jilo!

Death be Raven ( Terra Vane book 3)
By Katie Carys

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

Previously published under the author name of Katie Epstein...

My name is Terra, and I’m a Psychic. I have visions, and I need them now more than ever. Of the twelve that escaped from Portiside Prison, one is back behind bars but the rest are still out there, desperate and all the more dangerous for it.

I need to focus, but things between me and my boss are spiralling dangerously out of control, and I’m starting to see my partner in ways I’ve never seen him before—ways I’ve never even considered. I need a moment of clarity, but a body’s been found; our only lead being a single feather, black as night. Clarity can wait.

There’s no rest for the wicked.

Can’t tell you how much I love this series and writer! I love Terra she is a main character that is so well balanced I took an instant like to her. Cole is a bit of a dick in this one I’m slowly starting to switch loyalty and rooting for Kaleb to win her heart instead. Loved this storyline and actually felt pain for Raven such a sad existence. Really good book can’t wait to see what havoc is caused on Earth side!

The Devil Inside ( Morgan Kingsley Exorcist book 1)
By Jenna Black

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

Exorcism isn't a job, it's a calling--and a curse. Just ask Morgan Kingsley, a woman who has a stronger aura than any demon. Or so she thought. Now, in a pair of black leather pants and a kick-ass tattoo, Morgan is heading back to Philadelphia after a nasty little exorcism--and her life is about to be turned upside down...by the demon that's gotten inside her.

Not just any demon. Six feet five inches of dark, delicious temptation, this one is to die for--that is, if he doesn't get Morgan killed first. Because while some humans vilify demons and others idolize them, Morgan's demon is leading a war of succession no human has ever imagined. For a woman trying to live a life, and hold on to the almost-perfect man, being possessed by a gorgeous rebel demon will mean a wild ride of uninhibited thrills, shocking surprises, and pure, unadulterated terror...

I’m somewhere between a 3&4 stars! It started brilliantly and was a good book. I like the characters and the whole story idea. We have a kick ass strong female lead that’s not over written and demons are always such fun!
Will definitely be carrying one with series.

Sweet dreams (Saltwater books 2)
By Rivi Jacks

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

Sweet Dreams begins where Sweetwater: The Kihn ended.
It is not a stand-alone novel. There will be one more book in the Sweetwater series.

Sofie Reece and Lucas Santiago’s love story continues in Sweet Dreams.

Sofie Reece has a secret.
A secret she’s kept hidden for most of her life and now the man she loves is determined to uncover what she’s hiding.
What he discovers will put Sofie and all she holds dear in peril as she and Lucas confront the role she plays in their struggle against a ruthless and unimaginable enemy.

I’m so disappointed I absolutely loved the first book but this one was drama after drama! I really changed my rating from 2 to 3 and backsi many times. Sofie has become so insecure and whiny also so yes sir no sir! Lucas comes across as a bully and refuses to let sofie get a word in edge ways his controlling behaviour got tedious. Their whole relationship comes across as quite toxic! The whole idea behind the Kihn is so good and Sofies connection to them holds so much promise which is why I think I settled at 3 stars. I don’t usually give too much negativity in my feedback but I couldn’t find much positive to say!

Dark Veil ( Society book 2)
By Mason Sabre

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

For the past two years, Cade MacDonald and Gemma Davies have been forced to hide their illicit affair from the Other world, where mating with a species different to your own defies every law and mandate of Society. Considered an indefensible act, it is punishable by banishment from their community, or even worse, by death. However, Cade and Gemma experience a bond few ever do, wolf and tiger connecting deeply and irrevocably. Against all odds, their relationship flourishes and solidifies despite the difficulties.

Yet now, they suddenly find themselves faced with obstacles and danger they could never have imagined. Not only is their relationship and place in Society at stake, but their lives—as well as those close to them—are at risk. Their enemies are many, and the battles they need to overcome seemingly insurmountable. Will they be able to defeat their adversaries, and more importantly, will their love manage to prevail above all else?

This was definitely an improvement from book 1! I mar first I thought really a baby? But it worked and it was better written and paced out really well. Humans really are an awful species! Without giving much away I’m really hoping they can get away! Also loving the new characters and the introduction of witches!
