Touch ( selfish Myths book 1)
By Natalia Jester
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
A mortal outcast, a mythical goddess, and a forbidden desire that defies the laws of magic.
They say I'm a celestial bad girl. But they're wrong--I'm far worse.
My name is Love. I spend my immortal years hunting within a frosted forest, matching human hearts with each mischievous strike of my arrow.
But in all my centuries, I've never known desire--until now.
He's a mortal. And the longer I'm with him, the more I crave his touch.
Yet binding myself to this human is forbidden. Without a doubt, it's fatal.
When I discover that he possesses abilities beyond his knowledge--a force strong enough to eradicate my kind--I have to make a choice.
One, destroy him before he destroys my race.
Or two, contain his magic by sealing his heart with someone else's.
This was a strange read but strange in a good way I think. It was a sweet story of love finding love for herself. I loved the interaction with the other emotional gods they certainly all have a story. I just can’t put my finger on what was so odd about the book I’m certainly interested in reading more by this author. For now this would be 3 stars for me.

Fae: The Realm of Twilight ( The Riven Wyrde Saga book 2)
By Graham Austin-King
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Riven Wyrde saga continues...
The Wyrde is dead and gone, its protection passed into the ether. The fae have been loosed upon the world as they begin their wild hunt, a nightmare from fables and legend made flesh. At Hesk, in the heart of the Barren Isles, Ylsriss must confront a reality she never could have imagined when her son is stolen from her by the fae. Her desperate attempts to reclaim him lead her far from this world and deep into the Realm of Twilight where a still darker truth awaits her. As the Bjornmen invaders drive their way deeper into Anlan, King Pieter refuses to act. Selena is forced to confront him directly as Devin and Obair flee Widdengate and begin a search for answers, seeking help from a woman who may be little more than a memory.
Now this was so much better than book 1. It was non stop following each of the characters journeys. From start to finish I just enjoyed every bit! The world building was just so beautiful and so worth pushing through book one as it all makes sense. If I had one thing that annoyed me was the abrupt ending I mean really? Just stop like that? I guess it on to book 3!!

The Body Reader ( Detective Jude Fontaine 1)
By Anne Frasier
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
For three years, Detective Jude Fontaine was kept from the outside world. Held in an underground cell, her only contact was with her sadistic captor, and reading his face was her entire existence. Learning his every line, every movement, and every flicker of thought is what kept her alive.
After her experience with isolation and torture, she is left with a fierce desire for justice—and a heightened ability to interpret the body language of both the living and the dead. Despite colleagues’ doubts about her mental state, she resumes her role at Homicide. Her new partner, Detective Uriah Ashby, doesn’t trust her sanity, and he has a story of his own he’d rather keep hidden. But a killer is on the loose, murdering young women, so the detectives have no choice: they must work together to catch the madman before he strikes again. And no one knows madmen like Jude Fontaine.
Holy cow I bloody really enjoyed this book! It was a non stop stomach clenching read. I mean to go through everything she did then to have to deal with dead 16 year old girls was just harsh! The ending was so so satisfying too I actually wanted to cheer for Jude twice! Well worth a read. I’m really enjoying this authors work at the minute.

Dead Man Walking ( Death in a Northern Town book 3)
By Pete McKeirnon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My name is John Diant. Tortured father to a missing teenage girl, friend to a retro 1980s music obsessed Scouse smart arse and brother to Runcorn’s answer to Chuck Norris, only with less hair and a shitter beard. It has been several days since the zombie apocalypse came to Runcorn and now my home town, is nothing more than a dead town. This is my journal…The comedy horror trilogy continues with Death in a Northern Town 3: Dead Man Walking. Follow John, 80s Dave, Butty and Emily on their journey through zombie infested Runcorn, trying their best to survive against both the dead and the living.
I’ve said it after every book I bloody love this series!! This one was a just as good as the first two. I actually nearly wet myself laughing (or could be I’m getting old and after having 4 kids things get that way 😂😂😂) and also woke my husband at 1am at 80s Daves dream. The Tina Turner nut bush started it but Freddie Kruger and the mayonnaise spoon just had me in bits. I absolutely love this writers style and I still think it’s one of the best zombie books I’ve read. I urge everyone to read it. Also yay for zombie geese and ducks!!

Rage: Redemption ( Odin’s Wolves MC book 1)
By Candi Fox
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶🌶
Rage, half-wolf, half-god, all badass is a skilled warrior and SGT at Arms for Odin’s Wolves MC. Rage never expected to love again after losing his wife and child a century ago, but when an ancient evil arises, and he meets Desiré everything changes.
Desiré is running from her monster of an ex, who killed her family, and now wants her son. She will do anything to save her little boy and when she lands in White Horse, OK and meets Rage, she starts to have hope.
Can Desiré and Rage learn to believe in love again?
Well I kinda really enjoyed that! Was it perfect maybe not but I found myself unable to put it down which is why it’s now 1:35am. This is why I give books 5⭐️’s if you get that feel good I don’t want to put this book down unfinished then I’m my opinion it’s a 5 star book. It does have to be a perfect book!
So this one his ticks a few boxes for me: hot shifters ✅ magic ✅ Norse mythology a huge ✅ and some spice✅.
This is Odins Wolves on motorcycles what more could you want? Lots of fantasticical creatures too. I’m looking forward to more.

Requiem (Remington Carte book 2)
By Emma Cole
⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶
My name is Remington Reese Carter, and I’ve had a really bad day. It should have been an excellent day, after the prior evening spent with Elliot McAdams.
The experience had been amazing, but then the front door of Eli’s place opened, along with the biggest can of worms ever. I mean, really, what were the chances that not one, not two, but all three boys—well, now men, I suppose—that I ever loved, or thought to love, would all live together? And that Eli would live there as well? All. Together.
My mind couldn’t fathom it.
So I did what any self-respecting girl would do when confronted with four guys she has a major thing for. I ran. Don’t act like you wouldn’t have, either. I went straight to my best friend for some serious girl time.
Oh dear I hate going lower than 3⭐️ ratings but this really started to get boring half way through it was a little repetitive too. It did pick up in the last few chapters but not enough to go up to 3⭐️. Yes we did find out more of what happened but these things were spread out over too many chapters and the stuff with her dad ect was left to the odd mention. I kinda needed more.

Death be Hell ( Terra Vane 😎
By Katie Everwood/Katie Epstein
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You’re damned if you do, and you’re damned if you don’t. At least that’s the position Terra and the team are in. One of their own is at risk, and time must be reversed to save them.
How will they do that? With no other option, they’ve got to travel through the Shadow Veil to the Demon Cities. A lust demon will lead the way, but she has a confession. Once her sinister ex finds out she’s returned, the darkness shadowing one of their own will be the least of their problems.
It’s time to for the team to go to hell and back.
Literally.
Oh this is so one of my favourite series I love it! I have missed these characters and this was the perfect book to get reacquainted with them. Bernard just breaks my heart and I love seeing a bit more about him and his trauma in this and I know he loves Terra still. Libbey has really changed my opinion of her this book I just loved her!!! I didn’t think we could beat the zombies but the trip to hell was just brilliant I loved the costumes so funny. This was a huge bonding instalment and it was really fun! Then the ending smacks you in the face not happy 😭

By Gitte Tamar
⭐️⭐️
In a small Louisiana Bayou town during mid-September 1965, Albert Gilly frantically prepares his family's fishing store for an impending hurricane. Amid the chaos, he notices Adonis, a drifter, lying motionless on the street. With the wind raging and debris swirling violently around them, Albert's mind is consumed with thoughts of his family and their dependence on him as the sole breadwinner. Knowing that they would be destitute without him, he makes the painful decision to prioritize his own safety over rescuing the stranger. As Albert stands in his shop's doorway, the weight of his guilt is almost suffocating, causing him to hesitate before locking himself inside. He shouts one last time, urging the young man to seek shelter in his late father's houseboat at the end of the pier. Adonis is startled awake by his words, his mind still hazy, as he struggles through the strong winds until arriving at the floating sanctuary. However, his relief is short-lived upon discovering the sinister secrets concealed within the old wooden walls.
It was a strange read I’m not 100% sure on how I actually feel about it. The story was had good basis and the writing was pretty decent the ending just seemed a little rushed and it needed more I think! It just didn’t feel finished.

Merissa (13555 KP) rated Shade Kissed (Phoenix Rising #4) in Books
Dec 6, 2023
SHADE KISSED is the fourth book in the Phoenix Rising series, and we continue with Nicola waking up from a coma. Kyle is overjoyed but Nic isn't quite what he remembers. For a start, she can see! And secondly, she has no idea who she is or what she's done. Fun times.
This book is told from both Nicola and Kyle's perspectives and it goes back and forth from before and after Nicola wakes up. I found that a little confusing but only because I sometimes skipped the title headings to get to the story. I learnt my lesson!
It is a horrible situation for both Nicola and Kyle to be in, and neither of them thinks they're good enough for the other. I loved how West had a go at Rhys and told him exactly what was what. Plus, Aurelia and Mena's reactions were brilliant.
It was good to learn more about Nicola and just what she has endured during her three centuries, but I honestly can't wait to learn more! This book ended right in the middle of the story and my Kindle nearly hit the wall!
Absolutely recommended and I'm looking forward to the next already.

Just when I think things can’t get any worse...my ex shows up.
This is it. Our one chance to make it big in the Battle of the Bands. We have to win.
Except our bassist is missing. Guess who gets to track her down? That’s right, me. Because I’m the guy who’s always stuck fixing my band’s problems. And now my car won’t start. FML.
As if I’m not having a bad enough night, my ex-girlfriend Alexis shows up too. She offers to help me track down our rogue bassist, and with only hours before our band goes on stage, I can’t refuse.
I haven’t seen Alexis since high school, but now she’s back with a sexy new attitude and fiery red hair to match. She broke my heart once, but she’s not getting away this time.
Tonight I’m going to win—not just the Battle of the Bands, but the girl I never got over.
This is a standalone novella in the Chasing The Dream series, set a month before More Than Music.
It was good for what it was the start was a bit Ripley but it turned out ok in the end. This is a novella to a series so we will see how the rest of the books work out!
