Siren condemned ( Thief of Hearts book 1)
By C.R. Jane and Mila Young
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
One man will break me. One will lead me to sin. And one will kill me to save me.
The sirens have been hunted for so long that we no longer remember our pasts...
Our songs have been stolen, the source of all our power, and it's been made punishable by death to use it. They've taken everything from us.
The vampires.
I've been sent to the darkest of all places, Nightmare Penitentiary, for my disobedience to my masters. But I've promised myself that I’ll be free someday.. no matter the cost. I'll do whatever it takes to regain my power, even if I end up shattering the hearts of three captivating men who have the power to change my future forever.
It started of a bit dodgy I wasn’t sure I’d continue but I game it the benefit of doubt. It was ok I feel like something was missing which is a shame as it showed promise! Hopefully the series will get better.

Dawn of Chaos ( Caitlin Chronicles book 1)
By Michael Anderle and Daniel Wilcocks
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
The Governor she trusted to protect her wants her dead. The target she was sent to capture wants to help her live.
When Caitlin finally gets the chance to join her brother on a mission outside of the walls of the town she has been trapped inside all of her life, her entire reality is shaken.
Enemies appear in the strangest of places. The zombie-like ‘Mad’ roam the forests. Vampires and Werewolves from the fairy tales of her childhood become reality as Caitlin is forced to discover the truth of the Age of Madness and begin the fight for justice.
So I wasn’t sure what to Expect but it was actually quite good! I got a very walking dead theme but with vampires and weres thrown in! The characters were likeable and of course detestable, loving the female leads which I find sometimes when written by men are just slightly patronising but not here! Looking forward to seeing more.

The lost files of the Magical Beings: A MBRC anthology: A Chicago urban fantasy comedy
By K.M. Shea
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
The Lost Files of the MBRC is an anthology of five MBRC short stories--three of which have never before been released.
When Morgan decided to stay employed at the Magical Beings' Rehabilitation Center, she thought her life might quiet down as she started college and developed her career. She thought wrong.
In between balancing her relationship with Devin the Pook and planning for MBRC domination with her reluctant business partner, Aysel, Morgan chauffeurs around a reclusive Kraken, continues to play the lute at Asahi and Kadri's annual marriage celebration, and pulls all-nighter study sessions for college. Thankfully, her old friends - like Madeline, Frank, and Frey - are still around to wreak havoc and fun!
This was one of my favourite series last year! This is 5 short stories just tying up lose ends!
It’s fantastic to read I’m how they are all doing and how settled it’s become! Nice end to a fab series!

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Every Little Piece (Second Chances, #1) in Books
Jan 8, 2021
This is one of the oldest books still on my Kindle - from 2017 - so it's about time I read it.
It starts with Haley and her friends meeting up to decide what to do the day before graduation. They play pool and meet up with her boyfriend, Seth, and his friends for a few games before heading home to get ready for the big party that's happening. Things don't go well at the party, though, and when Seth disappears Haley and her friends search for him only to end up in a car accident. Fast forward a year and both Haley and Seth find themselves in the same place at the same time and Seth decides to try and make amends for what happened.
I'll admit I wasn't entirely into this. The characters were rather immature at times and how they acted really began to put me off the story. I didn't really gel with the romance or the storyline but I was intrigued about who was behind the accident so I continued to read.
This is a story of love, friendship, forgiveness and second chances. It just didn't work for me.

Memphis
By Kelly A Walker
I never understood why my momma would keep such a big secret from me. I begged for an answer, but she refused to give in. Now that momma is gone, her secret has been revealed.
The secret now has a name.
My name is Memphis Reynolds, and I find myself driving hours south in search of him. My biological father. The man momma kept hidden away from me for reasons I never knew.
Surrounded by half-truths, lies, and heartbreak, I find something I wasn’t searching for.
Love.
Three very different, very exceptional, very handsome men, will teach me that it is okay to let go the dreams of a little girl, and grab hold the desires of a grown woman.
They have no idea what they’re getting themselves into.
Bless their hearts.
I loved it!! Took me an hour to read! You can’t help read it from the beginning in a southern accent! It was well written and I really got drawn in! She’s a new author to me and can’t wait to see what else she’s got.

Accasias Bite ( sisters of Hex book 3)
By Bea Paige
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
Accacia remains cursed, just like the vampires she's grown to love, just like the people of Ever Vale and just like the four fated clan daughters of the prophecy.Alongside her Dark Knights, Accacia must play her part in breaking the curse or remain under the Queen's rule forevermore. Yet, how can she do that when Devin is losing his soul to the darkness, to a fate far worse than death? If Accacia cannot save his soul, then the battle is over before it's even truly begun. The stakes are high in this final installment of Accacia's journey as she heads into the danger of the queen's castle. Sacrifices will be made, friendships forged, and alliances sought. Accacia's Bite will conclude Accacia's journey, but not the Sisters of Hex series.
It was again a touch disappointing and felt a bit rushed. Still despite this a good read. Getting Devin back seemed a bit to easy! I like the set up for the next lot of books so fingers crossed.

Daughter of Persephone ( Cerberus book 1)
By Helen Scott
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
Poppy is nothing special.
She was making ends meet and trying to enjoy life. But a strange necklace caught her eye at the thrift store. Now, three gorgeous men have stumbled into her life, and she's torn between being terrified and excited. That is until they tell her she is the future queen of the Underworld.
Not only that, but she needs to bond with her hellhounds, the three heads of Cerberus, and protect the Underworld from a goddess who wants it for herself. Forced to face unnatural enemies, and too-sexy-for-their-own-good men, Poppy must choose: keep the life she's always had or take her rightful place as queen.
If she survives.
Wasn’t sure I was going to like this! Although I love my Greek mythology themed books! I was actually surprised it was good the running theme is similar to a lot of those that I’ve read but it still made an enjoyable read. It’s certainly a series I’ll see through.

Miss Frost Ices The Imp ( Jayne Frost book 2)
By Kristen Painter
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now…private investigator. Sort of.
When she buys a sealed box at an estate sale and cat-related circumstances cause that box to be opened, life in Nocturne Falls starts to go haywire. Jayne has no choice but to figure out what she unleashed and how to recapture it.
But Jayne suspects the woman behind the box is hiding something. Something that could cause a town resident serious trouble. Or worse, to lose their life.
With the help of her two favorite guys, a sexy vampire and a hot summer elf, and a few new friends, Jayne tackles what feels like an impossible mission. And winds up almost iced herself.
I’m really enjoying this series! It’s supernatural quirky and fun! A sugar loving princess fairy solving town mysteries while holding down the family business and will supernatural boyfriends! It’s just a fun light read.

Savannah James: Pendale High Class of ‘87
By Candi Fox
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
Welcome to 1987, where the high school antics include hot rock stars running beside the smoking jocks.
Savannah James wants love and finds it with Stone Blackwell when he rescues her from an embarrassing speckle with punk metal bassist Aaron Angel.
But all is not fair in love and war, and Stone makes a terrible mistake. Can their connection be saved or will the star QB Thad Harrison make his pass and win the girl?
Pendale High, Class of ’87 is not a YA novel.
I wanted to like it and please don’t be put off this is just My opinion! I thought I t started really well but was seriously rushed in places. I know she’s a mature 17 year old but my god she still came across a child or just all felt a little wrong to me. The ending was very predictable and a little cringy. This was a girl damaged from abuse throwing herself at and man showing her attention. I found it quite toxic!

The Fallen Star ( Fallen Star book 1)
By Jessica Sorensen
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
For eighteen year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. Up until recently, she has been incapable of feeling emotion. And when she's around Alex, the gorgeous new guy at school, she can feel electricity that makes her skin buzz. Not to mention the monsters that haunt her nightmares have crossed over into real-life. But with Alex seeming to hate her and secrets popping up everywhere, Gemma's life is turning into a chaotic mess. Things that shouldn't be real suddenly seem to exist. And as her world falls apart, figuring out the secrets of her past becomes a matter of life and death.
I thought it was so good! One of the best YA I’ve read In a while. Great story great characters still so many answers to uncover! Alex was push his luck for me sometimes he just grated on my nerves a little. But all in all a very good start to a promising series plus a new author for me too!
