Last Stand ( Black Mage book 4)
By Rachel E Carter
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

He's the Black Mage and she's the traitor to the Crown.

Ryiah's world was shattered the night she discovered King Blayne's nefarious plans. Now, she has to betray the one she loves most in order to save the realm from war. Torn between love and duty, Ry finds herself on a perilous mission to help the rebels and convince the kingdom of Pythus not to honor its pact with the corrupt king of Jerar - all the while deceiving the most powerful mage in the realm, the very man sworn to protect the Crown and hunt the rebels at all costs: her husband.

She's one step ahead, but sooner or later the curtain will fall.

Sooner or later, she'll have to fight.

This was so good and the perfect follow on and final book in this series. After such an emotional rollercoaster I’m sad to see it come to an end. If I had one slight moan was that I just found a few bits drawn out.
Not sure I’d still be around after such a betrayal though!

Jilo ( Witching Savannah #4 )
By J.D. Horn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Aged Mother Jilo is wise in the ways of magic...but once upon a time, she was just a girl.

1950s Georgia: King Cotton has fallen. Savannah is known as the "beautiful woman with a dirty face," its stately elegance faded by neglect, its soul withering from racial injustice and political corruption.

Young Jilo - fiercely independent, intelligent, and ambitious, but thwarted by Savannah's maddeningly genteel version of bigotry - finds herself forced to embrace a dark power that has pursued her family for generations, an ancient magic that may prove her salvation...or her undoing.

This was just what we needed! I love Jilo and it was so good to get her story and the back story of the Taylor’s too. This book was just creepy as hell in some parts and I’m referring to Poppy if you’ve read it the hairs on the back of my neck stood up! I’m sad to see this all wrapped up as the series was so good. I think I may have to start over.

Witch’s Storm ( The Bone Coven Chronicles #2)
By Jenna Wolfhart
⭐️⭐️

As a new Enforcer for the Bone Coven, I protect humans from supernatural assaults with the help of my sexy half-warlock, half-vampire partner. But when my latest investigation reveals a string of gruesome mage deaths, it seems there's a serial killer targeting us instead of them.

To make matters worse, demons immune to my coven's spells are now prowling the city streets hunting for prey. Their strength is growing, and they have their sights set on destroying the veil that protects our realm from theirs.

There's only one way to stop the killer and banish the demons once and for all. I must finally give into the dark magic that simmers deep within me, threatening to destroy my soul.

But will the world survive if I do?

This was not a book I enjoyed and I really hate giving 1 stars. It was badly written in place and repetitive the tension between the two main characters was strange. I just couldn’t get on with it. The characters and storyline became annoying. And what the hell is slayervill

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You set the trap. Now you can't escape.

When an online prank goes viral and triggers a spate of gruesome murders, documentary maker Hazel Salter watches in horror. But then Hazel's childhood friend, Meredith Hickman, is the next victim, Hazel knows she has to find out what happened to her.

Is it one killer or more? Random acts of violence or part of a bigger, twisted plan?

The police have no leads, but Hazel has a theory - one she'll stop at nothing to prove - and she also has a film crew. She'll make a documentary, catch the killer, and give Meredith justice.

Her stage is the abandoned amusement park where Meredith was found.

Her cast are the family and friends the killer left behind.

And her crew? They keep disappearing, one by one...

I absolutely loved this! It’s the sort of horror movie I’d watch! It all played out in my head and it was brutal. I didn’t want to put it down. So so good fast paced and well written.

Boogeyman Booty Call
By Harpie Alexa
⭐️⭐️

Creatures of the night deserve a little romance too!

She was just a human, but she was everything to him.

When an ad for Monster Match pops up on his phone, Gary the Boogeyman is intrigued, that is until the wretched programming takes over his device completely. So he fills out a profile.

All signed up and receiving DMs, Gary has no choice but to go on at least one date, but he's not looking for love or anything special. He's looking for a Bootycall and for his phone to stop acting up.

But what happens when the mystery woman is someone he knows? Someone he admires? Do humans even have big enough hearts to love creatures of the night? Demonic beings called... Boogeymen?

I’m not really sure what the hell I just read but omg did I laugh!! I just can’t get my head round it! I mean the Boogeyman and his weird ass relationship with this mother and child not forgetting his crazy housemate!! I can’t wash out my eyes 😂😂😂

I really enjoyed this. It was a fun read with really likeable and unlikeable characters as well as a decent story. The main female character is sassy and funny and of course the brooding vampire is a strong male lead. Yea overall a good quick read. Ends on a cliffhanger though!

Twenty-year-old Ryiah is a black mage of Combat, but she's not the Black Mage. Yet. She's had her eyes on the legendary robe for as long as she can remember, and in just one year, she will have a chance at her country's prestigious--and only--tourney for war mages... Too bad she is going up against a certain prince--the one person she has yet to beat.

The Candidacy finally arrives and a winner is robed, but something dark is lurking in her kingdom's midst. Rival nations are closing in, and it's time to make an alliance.

Unfortunately for Ryiah, that's only the beginning. The worst enemy resides in the palace.

Another really good instalment to this series. It goes a little deeper reveals some Secrets and we see some deaths and 2 weddings. But will the last one last after the latest unveiling of secrets? Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out in book 4. Definitely recommend!

A Forest of Vanity and Valour ( Lavanthria 1)
By A.P. Beswick
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Vireo Reinhold relishes collecting his monarch’s proper dues. Working hard to prolong and fund the king’s never-ending war, the self-centered official revels in the perks of luxury that come with his unorthodox role. But his world upends when he unearths an ancient spellbook that promises to unlock a shadowy, forgotten magic.

Embroiled in a secret affair with a fellow noble’s wife, Vireo is mortified when he’s forced to commit an unthinkable act. Driven into exile, no longer able to coerce the vulnerable, and with the powerful tome in his enemy’s hands, the fallen agent’s only shot at survival hangs on his skills at saving others.

I really enjoyed this! The world building now really good I love the whole Medieval theme to it. The characters and the storyline were very enjoyable to read. Can’t wait to see what other magical beings we encounter during the series. I really like this authors work so far.

Beyond The Horizon
By Bea Paige
⭐⭐⭐⭐

He arrived on a warm summer’s day…
Malakai Azaiah Dunbar, a loner whose home was the ocean I adored.
I was eighteen, he was thirty-six.
My foolish heart was stolen by a man who refused to accept I existed. A forbidden kiss sending him back into the arms of the ocean.
I was nineteen. He was thirty-seven.
He was changed. Cruel. Abrasive. Until he wasn't and I gave him something precious.
I'm twenty. He’s thirty-eight.
Just like the ocean we both adore, Malakai is mysterious, tumultuous, dangerous and not to be tamed. Fear has kept us apart for too long, but I'm not afraid anymore. It's time to lay everything on the line. It's time to bring him home.

Well this was a bit good! Read within 2 hours! Was a great link to Misfits series. I got quite emotional in parts just wishing Malakai would sort his s**t out. Another fab book from Bea Paige she certainly knows how to bring out the emotions in a reader.

The Passengers

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You’re riding in your self-driving car when suddenly the doors lock, the route changes and you have lost all control. Then, a mysterious voice tells you, “You are going to die.”

Just as self-driving cars become the trusted, safer norm, eight people find themselves in this terrifying situation, including a faded TV star, a pregnant young woman, an abused wife fleeing her husband, an undocumented immigrant, a husband and wife, and a suicidal man.

From cameras hidden in their cars, their panic is broadcast to millions of people around the world. But the public will show their true colors when they are asked, "Which of these people should we save?...And who should we kill first?"

Another brilliant book from John Marrs. This author seriously has me worried about using technology. This was so intense and so frightening. It showed human nature at its worst. There is always someone watching and waiting to bring the truth out in people could you sit and choose who would live or die? I’m not sure I could.
