David McK (3562 KP) rated The Dark Knight Rises (2012) in Movies

The final part of Christopher Nolan's Christian Bale starring Batman trilogy (after both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) that takes a large part of its inspiration from the 1990s Knightfall series of graphic novels in introducing the character of Bane: the man who (quote unquote) 'Breaks the Bat'.

As portrayed by Tom Hardy, this version of the character is nothing at all like you might remember from the Batman and Robin abomination: there's no mention of venom (the drug) in this movie, nor is it overstuffed with villains like that earlier movie/portrayal of the character was.

Instead, we have Bane as the primary antagonist throughout, although - in the tradition of Batman Begins - he is later revealed to be but a pawn, with deliberate call-backs to that first movie. While Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow does make a return (in what largely amounts as a camoe) alongside Ra's Al-Ghul (again, largely as a cameo in flashbacks), there's no Joker this time round - probably as a result of the real-world death of Heath Ledger (although I might have preferred even a throw-away line saying why the character wasn't in this!)

We also have Anne Hathaway's take on Catwoman/Selina Kyle, here portrayed more as a cat burglar than the Michelle Pfeiffer version from Batman Returns, and the 'passing on' of the mantle of Gotham's protector to another very-familiar character (who doesn't use his given name until the very end).

SOME KIND OF TRUTH is a dark mystery crime thriller about a reporter on the search for truth. Steve James has gone through his own trauma that is similar to that of the girl on the USB stick he anonymously receives. After receiving the approval of his editor, he goes to small-town USA - Hanover if you want the particulars - to find out just what happened.

This was a good story that had me turning the pages, even as I suspended reality. Steve, and the local journalist helping him, Amy, go around the town and surrounding areas, going into houses, and making discoveries that should have been reported to the police.

There were a few errors that I spotted, just as Lance Corporal Lewis Brenner changing to Lance Corporal Kyle Brenner and Private Lewis Lomax. They weren't enough to spoil my reading but they were noticeable.

Steve was a sympathetic character to begin with, but his constant musings about drink and alcohol became monotonous, even knowing the reasons why he used them as a crutch. He can see things others might miss, although he is not infallible.

A dark and gritty story that I can definitely recommend.

Catwoman- is a terrible movie, im not sure why this movie got made, but it did. Selina kyle is not even the main charcter in this film, she's not even mention in this film. So who's even the main charcter of this film? Patience Philips, what the hell!! So whats the story than.

"Catwoman" is the story of shy, sensitive artist Patience Philips (Halle Berry), a woman who can't seem to stop apologizing for her own existence. She works as a graphic designer for Hedare Beauty, a mammoth cosmetics company on the verge of releasing a revolutionary anti-aging product. When Patience inadvertently happens upon a dark secret her employer is hiding, she finds herself in the middle of a corporate conspiracy. What happens next changes Patience forever.

What the hell!!! Is this plot, not even close to the source material. Who else in this film? Sharon Stone!!! Why? Benjamin Bratt!!! Why? Frances Conroy!! Why?

Grr this movie makes me really mad, the whole movie makes mad.

I can go on for days upon days, on how this is really bad.

Even this happened, Berry arrived at the ceremony to accept her Razzie in person with her Best Actress Oscar for Monster's Ball in hand and said: "First of all, I want to thank Warner Bros. Thank you for putting me in a piece of shit, god-awful movie... It was just what my career needed.

Wow that means you should not see this film, when even the main actress says the movie is awful. So dont watch this film.

4.5 stars.

This book has everything that I like in a paranormal read; action, romance, investigations... I really, really, really liked it!

"Happy Reading"? It definitely was for me!

I literally read every word of this, which I don't always do as it is generally just filler/too much information for my liking, but I felt like I would miss something if I missed any one word of this. And still managed to finish it within three days

The case took up all the book and I have to admit that I had no idea who was behind it all but I loved how the author had linked everything together.

The romance was slow growing; it wasn't insta-love and I really felt it happening which was great. I love Kyle and Joe as a couple. I'd love to read more of them (nudge, nudge ;-))

I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books by the author if there is more along this line coming. Great book for a debut!

OPPOSED DESIRES is the second book in the Rehoboth Pact series. We met Aubrey briefly in Sky and Mia's book, but now we meet her again and find out more about this complex character.

Opposites attract, so they say, and these two fit that description perfectly. Both have been burned in past relationships, but where one goes one way, the other goes the other. Make sense? It will, trust me. I loved the build-up between these two, and how secrets were spilt during moonlit walks on the beach. Who doesn't like that?! I loved how there was no simple, straightforward fix. Instead, we have a push/pull situation where both of them are scared to move forward.

I found the world-building to be just as good as book one. The characters remain amazing and quirky in their own unique ways. This is steamy and so well-written. They actually learn about each other, instead of 'instinctively' knowing which buttons to push. And the ending was all I could have wished for.

I enjoyed Sky and Mia's story. I loved Aubrey and Selina's. The only trouble I've got is Kyle is next (who I can't wait for) and if the trend continues, I'll need another star!

A shining jewel in Ms McIntyre's crown! Absolutely recommended by me.
