It also took me a wee while to get used to the recasting of the role of Colonel Sebastian Moran - not to say that the actor was bad, by any means, just that he sounded different.
Anyway, this time round, the story starts in the United States, following both Moriarty and Sherlocks death at the Reichenbach Falls, before - in the latter half - moving back to Merrie Olde Englande - with a new nemesis in the form of Helen Mirren's blackmailer Lady Milverton.

David McK (3843 KP) rated Shakespeare in Love (1998) in Movies
Oct 19, 2025
Whilst this is a bit slow starting, it gets better once the plot starts moving, roughly half an hour or so into it, with the introduction of (a very young) Gwyneth Paltrow as Lady Viola who - in the best traditions of Shakespeare - wants to become an actor herself, a role forbidden to females of the time, and so is forced to 'go undercover', pretending to be a young man.
Sound familiar?
It's a plot device Shakespeare would return to, time and time again.
Charlotte (184 KP) rated Severance Package: a ménage office romance in Books

The main character is Claire, smart, sexy, funny and for me, a very lucky lady! From a bad situation new and awesome things happen for her......I so want those things to happen for me too.
As a character she's well written, likeable and shows that she's human like the rest of us, that the tasty, exciting experiences she has are actually achievable for us too.
The events that start her journey, again, could happen to anyone......the things that come to light, a little less so. However, I do wish there was a little more depth to that side of the story, a little more meat on the bones.
Overall I do love it so a solid 4 out of 5

Set in the year 1216, England is in ruin. The nation is divided, scores of outlaws live in the forest and they do what they must to survive. Lady Merry will do anything to protect the orphans that make up their band known as “The Ghosts of Farthingale Forest”. Timothy Grey longs to become someone of power and authority. So he sets out to capture the ghosts, not knowing who their leader is. Will he turn in the ghosts and earn approval from his master? Or will he follow his heart and the leading of God?
Dauntless is the first book that I have read by Dina Sleiman, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very engaging and quite the page turner. I loved how she used older English, but not so “olde” that I couldn’t understand the book. The “Historical Notes” were very informative and helpful to read. I wish I would have read it first, even thought there are a few spoilers in it. Her portrayal of the supernatural was very vivid. I liked it a lot! This story was a good reminder that things happen in our lives that we don’t always understand. But we must remember that God has a purpose for everything. Although we may never know why, we must trust Him and know that He truly knows best. Yes, I know, easier said than done. But in this story, the journey of reestablishing faith in God was amazing to behold and I pray that it brings you hope.
I received a free digital edition of Dauntless from Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
