Suswatibasu (1701 KP) rated Duolingo Spanish Podcast in Podcasts
Jan 4, 2018 (Updated Jan 4, 2018)
Interesting and useful
@Duolingo is one of the most popular language learning apps on the market, so it was only a matter of time it explored other avenues. With its new Spanish podcast range, it has upped its game, as it feels much more useful and meaningful than learning sentences such as "I am a pretty duck".
The main topic of discussion is life experiences, from meeting heroes to rites of passage - it seems far more relevant than the content of the app. And the podcast is bilingual. However, it is for intermediate level which is perhaps why the content is a bit more interesting and varied. So far, so good.

GameCritics (290 KP) rated Kerbal Space Program in Video Games

Kerbal Space Program does the improbable: it makes learning a complex subject fun. Its cute, clueless characters and sense of humor turn a hardcore physics simulator into something replayable and addictive.

littlekel (0 KP) rated Scorpion - Season 1 in TV

A clever turn on your typical US save the day shows. Despite the intelligence of the show's characters, the content doesn't go over your head and you can still relate to them whilst at the same time learning new things. Every episode is interesting and different and has elements of humour throughout.
Lindsay (1717 KP) rated Santa Claus Worldwide in Books
Apr 15, 2023
Are you into learning about Santa Claus or how he came about? I have found a book that is called “Santa Claus Worldwide” by Tom A. Jerman; it a decent and excellent book. I learned quite a bit about Christmas and some of the many holidays. The history is not bad.
This book is primarily nonfiction and stands set on the history of Santa Claus. How it the name Santa Claus come about? The many different characters that Santa Claus exists and become. You will be surprised at how many other names are associated, and these lovely children call him.
You will learn a bit about the origin of Christmas and Santa Claus. I learned much about how the Christmas tradition came about and how it changed over the years. What we know about our Christmas traditions today differs from when they first came about and how our practices have evolved.
This book is okay for me. It was not rated low because of how it was written. It was slow and tedious for my taste. Suppose you are a fan of nonfiction books and would enjoy learning about the history of St. Nicholas and Other Holiday Gift Bringers. In that case, This book may be just for you. I enjoy learning about St. Nicholas and the many other holiday gift-bringers. I just thought it was not for me. But not where I did not understand what it was about. This book was okay, and I enjoyed learning new history.

The story was very good at putting you into the world, it was detailed enough that you felt like you were in the room with them. (1 more)
I personally loved learning about her situation and how she dealt with it.

Anti-climactic reveal (1 more)
Kinda lame
Same book, different name
I didn't hate it. The big reveal was a huge letdown for me, and IMHO, would not have caused a huge crisis for religious leaders. The killer was fairly obvious to me, also. That was super disappointing for me because I love a good twist, but this one didn't have it. Also, the whole mess with the royal family (aside from the touching scene at the end with the bishop) seemed kind of messy and superfluous.
Honestly, I haven't loved these last 2 Dan Brown books. The trivia and puzzles are great, and I love "accidentally" learning new things, but perhaps the same old, same old formula is wearing on me.

Extremely Cute
This is the story of a young girl who is learning the dieing art of taking care of tea dragons. This book is adorable. I for one would definitely keep a tea dragon for a pet. I also enjoyed the art style. It has a really clean look to it, and it matches the story.

Loved the entire series. Each episode made me want to watch more. Hope theres more in the works because this was fabulous. Learning about each character and how and why they were was fascinating. Watching how they each learned about different things about their dad n why he did or didnt do stuff was great. Recommend to all.
