It's hard to imagine that this legal segregation only ended 26 years ago, yet Noah then faced the turbulent legacy of post-apartheid. Being mixed race posed its own problems, as Noah describes never fitting in anywhere, but being accepted to a certain degree because of his 'whiteness' and his chameleon-like ability to adapt to his surroundings.
There are moments which are truly disturbing, as Noah speaks about his violent stepfather and going hungry. In this way, his life can be seen as a story of personal survival, through intelligence and humour, which millions have come to love.

I take my hat off to Duncan Fairhurst for writing down this account and showing himself in a true light, rather than trying to hide parts of it. I wish him all the best for the future and congratulate him on the choices he has made and the choices he still has to make. He has turned himself around.

It is a powerful movie, a emotional movie, a film that will make you cry, a overall excellent and phenomenal movie.
The Plot: After graduating from Harvard, Bryan Stevenson heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or those not afforded proper representation. One of his first cases is that of Walter McMillian, who is sentenced to die in 1987 for the murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite evidence proving his innocence. In the years that follow, Stevenson encounters racism and legal and political maneuverings as he tirelessly fights for McMillian's life.
Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson and Tim Blake Nelson are all excellent and shouls have been nominated.
If you havent watched or heard about this film than go look it up and see it, cause it will make you cry.

As legal/crime thrillers go this is fairly decent, although you do have to suspend your disbelief at times especially as Ryan Gosling really doesnt look the part as a DA. However the story itself is quite good, it's different as we know from the beginning who did it but its interesting to see how the characters figure out how to prove it. Anthony Hopkins may be a little OTT in his performance in this (he was that evil I couldn't stand him), and there was some weird things going on with his accent - it seemed to span the entire British isles at some point.
Still overall it was fairly enjoyable, the ending may not have been as exciting as promised but it was entertaining and no overly long.
