Prom Night (1980)
Prom Night (1980)

One of the earliest slasher film genres, but sure looks dated now! Starring Leslie Nielsen and Jamie Lee Curtis, it starts very slow and is quite predictable. It does have a couple of good moments though. Just had a re-make done also!

Silly spoof
A silly spoof that could have been so much better as it doesn't really make fun of the Horror films it's aimed at like Scary Movie does. Ok cast and a cameo from Leslie Nielsen but not much going for this.

A good decent spoof of Bram Stokers Dracula, and many a Hammer horror film. It has the king of spoof films in Leslie Nielsen being very silly indeed. Very light hearted by todays standards. A good fun film with some impressive sets I have to add!

Watched last night on Disney plus is it as funny as the naked guns kinda I did laugh but not as much as I would have done withthe naked gun movies and casting matlock as the villain of the movie just doesn't work for me

Hilarious!
One of my favourite Comedies and possibly the best Spoof one. Always makes me laugh. From the same team behind @Airplane! (1980) and @Top Secret! (1984) it has the same sort of humour and a great mix of gags.

"Also, the very first Airplane! movie, with that zany comedy, slapstick-y, sight gag thing going on. I’d never seen a movie like that before. Of course, after that came more Airplanes and Hot Shots, Top Secret, and the Naked Gun movies. But Airplane took me so by surprise, and Leslie Nielsen was brilliant."

The fall of the franchise.
Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris) now has a psychic connection with Michael Myers, she has visions showing who and where he is going to kill next.

If that sounds dumb to you, then trust me, the movie will feel dumb too.
Halloween 5 feels more like a Friday the 13th movie, filled with dumb teens getting picked off one by one, featuring some unrealistic subplot to distinguish it from other entries.
Gone is the eerie suspense, the music is a shadow of the original's score. Gone too is the tension of asking "where is Michael?" As Jamie's visions literally show us where he is.

There is also a weird change, in Halloween 4 Leslie L. Rohland played the part of Lindsey Wallace, shown as a friend to both Jamie and Rachel (Ellie Cornell), Leslie did not return for H5. In Halloween 5, they cast Wendy Foxworth as Tina Williams. What's confusing is Leslie and Tina are very similar to one another, they look alike and their characters were similar. In H5 they played off like Tina had known Jamie from before. So it begs the question, if you had to recast why not keep the same character? And if you had to change character, why not cast someone unlike Leslie? I don't know but it's always bugged me.

There are a couple of good things to say about it. Some death scenes are intense and brutal, the ending is good, intense with a decent twist.

Overall though, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers is the first entry in the series that really truly disappointed me, mostly due to its dumb story.

can't split narration from the book!
When I listen to a book, I try really REALLY hard to write a bit about the book then a separate bit about the narration.

However! Part of the reason I am enjoying these Protectors stories is the narration by Joel Leslie! So I cannot split them!

I'm not a fan of READING first person books and I make no apologies for that but LISTENING to them is becoming a firm favourite! Joel Leslie put so much emotion, feeling so much of the character's very soul into his work, and by god you feel for these guys, you really do!

I have no doubt, no doubt at all, hat I WILL be listening to the others books as they come out in audio. I don't want to switch to reading, I might not enjoy them so much!

5 stars for the book
5 stars for the narration.

"Quadrophenia [and also] Control. Franc Roddam and Anton Corbijn’s films both accomplish the rarest thing; they capture the feeling in the music of the bands that they’re covering. To watch these two great movies is to geek out on cinematic portraits that remind you exactly why you first fell in love with a Townshend power chord, or discovered Ian Curtis’ bleak genius. Character to look for: Steph (Leslie Ash), the scene-stealer from Quadrophenia."
