Bright and colourfully presented, this "in 30 seconds" book about the Vikings is targeted at middle-grade readers but accessible by older students as well. It is well laid out and leaves information easily found. Illustrations are meaningful and show the lives of these well know historical people.
Overall, this is a pleasant read, that adds to information and one I would happily put in my youngster's library.

Book Rating

Normally, I like to read a book before I see a movie, but this book wasn't available from the library prior to me seeing the movie. Well, luckily, it's completely different. I'm not going to compare them at all.
This was a quick read. The first person narrative worked well with the story. The story was interesting and well paced. I'll definitely read the next book in the series.

I recently joined a YA Book Club at my public library and I’m really exited about the reads for June!

The theme is dystopian/Sci-fi:
Warcross by Marie Lu
Bluescreen by Dan Wells
Unplugged by Donna Freitas

Have you ever read a book that was so good that once you realized how close to the end you were coming, you deliberately started dragging the pages out? Like, seriously reading one page per minute? My daughter loves travelling by plane so I thought I would reserve this one for her at the library. She also loves Maisy so this was a good book to read together. The book goes through all the stages of airplane travel, some of which my daughter remembers so it brought back happy memories. There were a few inconsistencies but those probably won't be recognised by pre-schoolers.
