I'm not quite sure who started this popular tumblr-style spacing poetry, but it is so annoying and I feel like it makes the poetry less effective. That's simply why I've rated it so low.
The poetry was fairly good, but I couldn't help but think of rupi kaur... and that kind of tainted this for me. It certainly didn't empower or inspire me in anyway, aside from inspiring me to use capital letters and spacing correctly. This was definitely a quick read, and maybe took me 30 minutes. I've rented the next one from the library, so I guess I'll soldier on with the next one.

I didn't know anything about this series before I borrowed the first book from the library. I thought it was probably going to be pretty juvenile, and that I'd return it right away. However, I'm pleasantly surprised. While it is about children, the book is rated for older teens. It's funny, innocent, and cute, and then it quickly starts going in different directions that make it a bit dark, frustrating, a little creepy. The only real negative opinion that I have about it is that it seems to have a bit of a repetitive nature towards this volume's end. I'm looking forward to moving onto book two, though!

I read this book to my sons when they were of an age to appreciate it. We all enjoyed it, especially as we all made a weekly pilgrimage to the local library on a Saturday to swap our read books for fresh reads.

Colfer takes a classic tale of the plucky heroes pitted against an evil villain (in this case the titular librarian) and had a great deal of fun with it. It is an easy read, funny and engaging and enough jokes aimed at younger children and adults for it not to be a chore for parents to read. And of course a great introduction to the author.

I had heard a lot of good things about this book and admittedly I was quite late to the party. But I'm glad that I managed to nab myself a copy from the library to read. This book has definitely revived my love for Greek mythology. The story of Circe is really well written and I love how it encompasses other areas of Greek mythology like Odysseus and Prometheus. At times I did find my mind wandering as there were areas that didn't grab my attention as much as others but it was brought back quite swiftly. I will definitely be reading more of this author's works!
