Surprisingly Good *Not The Teen Novel It Is Made Out To Be....Adult Content*
To start out with potential readers need to be aware that this book and in fact the entire series is apparently considered to be teen novels. In fact, I pulled it from the front shelf in the teen section of my local library. While as a teen reading explicit materials was not a problem for me and my parents were ok with it as well I do recognize the fact that there are many parents who would not appreciate their teens reading the kind of content this book contains. The fact that nowhere on the book's cover or on its GoodReads or Amazon profile does it state that this should be for mature readers only is concerning. When I say that this book is explicit I mean that there are quite a few "adult situations" that are described in detail in which that detail is not necessary to carry the plotline along even if the occurrence of the situation does. You have been warned...
Moving on
So the only reason why I read this book is that the third book in the series "The Crown of Guilded Bones" was ranked very high on GoodReads. In fact, I believe it actually ranked in the 2021 books of the year. Anyway, the third book sounded great so I went back and started the series from the beginning.
This book follows the life of Poppy AKA The Maden. Being named the Maiden is supposed to be a huge honor but it comes with a lot of strict rules that make it feel more like a punishment than anything else. Unsurprisingly Poppy comes to find that the world she lives in is not at all what she thinks it to be and must face hard truths as she races to the capital of her land to be protected from the Atlantians but is that really what is happening?
This book offers a surprisingly unique look at some classic fantasy themes, characters, and creatures. There is very little that is as it seems and there are so many twists that it will make the reader pause to process the new direction the story moves in every few chapters. While it isn't exactly a short book this is almost guaranteed to be a quick read because you are not going to want to put it down.

ZERO CHANCE is the fifth book in The Seven series, and it's the turn of incorrigible flirt, Keene. We got a glimpse of him and Waverley at the end of Just This Once (Parker and Hope's story), and this carries on from there. I would absolutely recommend you read the prior books in this series, simply because they are all outstanding!
Anyway, Waverley is Library Girl, invisible to most, but unfortunately, not to Xander, who insists on befriending Waverley. I loved Xander for that, as she was just what Waverley needed, even when she didn't think so. Waverley was also not invisible to Keene, even when she wanted to be. Nope, instead, he would irritate and aggravate her at every turn, but what he wouldn't do was flirt with her. Even though he flirted with anything that moved! So when Waverley seizes the day to find out what the fuss is all about, the game is on.
I loved every moment of this book. Waverley has had a sh!tty life up until now. From r@pe at a very young age, to a su!cide attempt, to an overbearing mother and a standoffish father, it all sucks. The thing I loved about this, though, was that everything had a reason. Her parents weren't helicopter parents for no reason, and Waverley understood that, even if it annoyed her.
And Keene, oh, man. This dude about killed me. He has been the loud flirt all the way through the series, and finally seeing what makes him tick was wonderful. He is absolutely the right person for Waverley, the same as she is for him. These two perfectly complement each other, which means they can both deal with the darkness better.
I will give a Kleenex warning, though! As with most books in this series, if not all of them so far, I ended up with leaking eyes. This is a good thing as it means I've connected with the characters. But it's also a bad thing, as it means I have to stop reading to stop the blurring.
So, so good. I loved every word and can't wait for Thane's book. I'll give Xander and Alec some space as I know she still needs some time. But Thane! Come on!!
In case you haven't figured it out yet, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and the series. Love it!

So the third time is the charm. I have really been in a book funk lately and haven't picked up a book in a very long time. I checked this book out three times from the library before I was able to finish it. <B>BUT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS BOOK!</B>
My mother introduced me to Chevy Stevens a few years ago and ever since, I try to read whatever she has put out. So far I think I am missing one maybe two. This book was so exciting and a thrill to read, I was made that my mood made it hard for me to pick up a book.
Jess, Courtney and Dani live with their father in Canada. Their father is usually gone for weeks at a time working and the girls are left to fend for themselves and work the ranch they live on to survive. When their father returns home late one night after drinking and finding out some disturbing news about his middle daughter Courtney, he is quite upset and hurls all of his anger on the girls. When the unthinkable happens, the girls know they must escape before they are thrust back into the foster care system. On the run from their father and their past, they make a stop in a small town when their truck breaks down. Only things here only get worse for the girls. Trapped for days with no one knowing where they are, they manage to escape again, running for their lives.
Now almost 18 years later, life is very different for the girls who are now women. They have changed their names and tried to move on from the horrific events that have plagued their past. When one of the sisters is gone for a few days, they don't think much of it, but when her niece goes missing too, there are many questions in the search for these women. Haunted by their past the remaining sisters travel back to the small town that changed their lives to try and find their sister and niece, but will they be able to find them before it is too late?
Chevy Stevens knows how to write a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. She draws you into the story and keeps you captivated from the start. Whenever I did pick up this book I would read until I could no longer keep my eyes open. I will let you know, not as a spoiler, but the end of this book had me in tears. I mean full out running down the face tears. I hope it will release the same emotions in you. Highly recommended.
