TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated Tethered (The Ties that Bind #3) in Books

I'll be honest I struggled through the first part of this book, I just didn't understand where it was going. But I liked Jacqui. So I kept reading. I thought it was interesting how Eleanor Bertin grew Jacqui as a character, it was like watching a flower bloom. Slow at first and the wham, beautiful flower is open and grown. I liked the life lessons that Jacqui learned along the way through the story, and the helpful spirit she had towards the other characters, she showed a lot of courage. But I just had trouble liking how she handled different situations, it is probably because it is not how I would have handled the situation. The secondary characters really helped build the sense of small community life and I really enjoyed them. The only other different thing is the ending, but you'll have to read it to find out why :)
I do recommend reading this book if you like second chances, slow build romances, and journeys of growth. I give it 3 out of 5 stars for the reasons given above. I will be reading more books by this author, this book just happens to not be my favorite.

BookInspector (124 KP) rated The Art of Hiding in Books

The main character in this book was Nina, a mother of two boys and a wife of a wealthy businessman. After her husband’s unexpected death, she finds out, that she was living in a bubble, and her husband left them bankrupt. Kicked out of her beautiful home and with pennies in her pocket, she needs to find out the way to survive.
I really liked Nina as a protagonist in this novel. I really liked her strength and her relationship with her boys. She had huge changes to endure, but I think she handled the situation pretty great. This novel was mostly told from Nina’s perspective, sometimes throwing in other character’s thoughts. My least favourite was Nina’s older son, I do understand he is a teenage boy, but a little bit of understanding and common sense from his part would’ve saved Nina so much stress. :S But again, what do I know about kids.
The narrative of this book was very absorbing to me, I was very intrigued of where the life will take Nina and her boys. There was so much loss, that it was really heartbreaking to see them struggling so much. I really enjoyed the topics which author has discussed, such as family relationships; the differences between being poor and rich, and how it affects people; use of survival skills after they were subdued for a very long time, and many more. Even though the story was engrossing, some parts were pretty repetitive for me, and that made my interest drop until a turn or surprise came along.
This novel is very well written and the language used was very easy and pleasant to read. It has decent chapter length which was divided into smaller parts as well, so the book didn’t drag to me. The ending of this novel rounded this story pretty well and left me satisfied with the outcome. So, to conclude, I enjoyed this story, filled with life-changing events and pretty strong characters. I did admire Nina and her life journey, and I do recommend to give this book a try, it has great life lessons to offer.

Molly J (Cover To Cover Cafe) (106 KP) rated Tora Fright Patches Things Up: A Story about Forgiveness in Books
Feb 27, 2019
Tora Fright's story of forgiveness is a wonderful message for kiddos and adults alike. It has more than one message wrapped up in sweet Tora's story and it is so worth the read. I found myself turning to God more than once while reading this book, and thanking Him for the gentle reminders.
If you have young ones in your life, children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, then I highly recommed this book with 5 stars, especially if they have siblings, as patience, kindness and forgiveness are all woven into this story. I am looking forward to checking out the other Tora Fright books and seeing what other lessons she learns!

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg in Books
Nov 12, 2018
Notorious RBG is a truly wonderful book. I never knew what Ruth Bader Ginsburg did for women until this book. She really is an inspiration. Learning about RBG was a wild ride. The things this woman has gone through is truly inspirational and I loved how much she has accomplished in her life. Reading this book inspired me to be more. I loved some of the lessons that were told and it shows how important it can be to meet in the middle and still show respect when you hold differing opinions.
All in all, if you're looking for a good biography on an inspirational woman this is the book for you.
BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated My First Hands-On Bible in Books

The fact that there is true scripture in this "kid's" Bible is one of my favorite aspects of this book. The Word of God is important and our children should be included in that. The verses are abridged, but not revised. Not all of the Bible is portrayed, however there are many key stories from both the Old and New Testament.
My First Hands-On Bible is a wonderful first Bible for preschool aged children. My son is 3 years old and really enjoys the stories and activities. The stories are short enough that he doesn't loose interest before we are done and the activities throughout help to keep him engaged. Throughout the day and for days afterwards, he is still repeating the lessons he has learned. I really feel that the activities helped to make it stick for him. I recommend this Bible. It is a great way to introduce children to reading The Word daily and learning about God's love.
I received a free copy of My First Hands-On Bible from Tyndale Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
