I don't even really remember how I first heard about Welcome to Night Vale but from the first time I listened I knew this was something I was going to love and damn was I right.

I really don't even know how to sum up the show it's so unique and so much fun that is easy to get lost in the episodes that I sat for hours just listening to one episode after another. The characters are just so damn likable that you feel yourself grow really attached to them and waiting for the next episode was hell because you just wanted to know what would happen next.

The only thing I didn't enjoy most of the time was the weather which is just a song but freaking hell so many of the songs are just so bad and I honestly can't even give a genre to.

Epic modern Shakespearean tragedy
Listened on Audible.co.uk.
George Saunder's epic historical and existential tragedy seems to resonate on many levels with a variety of readers. Taking the real life account of the death of Abraham Lincoln's son, exploring his grief and creating a magical realistic theatrical piece is a true wonder.

It's a listening experience for all the senses, with the beautiful music and sounds of the Civil War, as well as a host of well known voices - it's haunting in many aspects. The language is rich and variable mixing Shakespearean dialogue with modern slang.

Where it falls short are the constant breaks in the novel through footnotes describing the actual factual account of that time. It is jarring and ruins the experience - it should be left to the end and is only valid when reading. In this case Saunders sounds timid, having to constantly back up his claims. It would have been five stars, but it happened too often.

I’ve listened to three or four David Sedaris audiobooks now. This one wasn’t my favorite, but it wasn’t my least favorite either. That being said, it was very funny and entertaining as always. This collection of stories made me think more than others have in the past, so that was nice.

Sedaris has an uncanny way of making the every day boring stuff sound hilarious because of the way he interprets it in his mind and because of the way he says things the people. You know how stuff sounds better in your head, but you say it anyway and then people look at you like you have a third eye and webbed feet? That’s half of his humor. I love it.

I recommend Diabetes with Owls to any Sedaris fan, new or old. If you’ve never listened to him before, I recommend Live for your Listening Pleasure to get an overview of his best.

John Puller is an Army investigator. He is called to Drake, West Virginia when a fellow Army officer is found dead(along with his wife and children) in his in-laws home. With the help of local police chief Cole, they uncover some interesting dealings in Drake.

Drake is a mining town, as most are, in West Virginia. When people start showing up dead in this small town for no apparent reason, people tend to get really upset by that. So why are people getting killed? What is going on in this town that someone is trying to keep secret? Who is behind it all.

In this first John Puller novel, you are pulled in from the beginning. David Baldacci does an amazing job of drawing you into his stories and keeping you there.

**Beware** If you are listening to the audio you will hear actual gun shots and explosions! Be prepared!!

In order to combat my reading slump, I’ve been binge listening to a lot of audio books. Yesterday, I finished How to Hang a Witch by Adriana Mather. I didn’t see the term historical fiction used to describe it, however I feel that it’s a suiting genre considering what the author reveals to us in the afterward.

How to Hang a Witch is read by Mather as well, and I find her voice to be quite suiting for the main character. Then again, the main character seems to be an version of herself that is relevant to the story. With characters that are primarily in high school, it works quite well. I will admit, and this has affected my rating a bit, that it takes some time to get used to Mather’s voice.
