Altered Carbon, (Netflix)

Alternately mind bending, exciting, confusing, thrilling, cleverly written, dazzlingly plotted, and all-around fantastic, this may be the best science fiction television show I’ve ever watched in my whole life. Watch it, and find out that I’m not exaggerating. Be forewarned: it is fairly confusing, and has tons of violence and full frontal nudity throughout. LOTS of violence and TONS of nudity. I LOVE this show! So clever!! (There are always going to be plot holes and logic jumps and gaps, let the show be what it is and you WILL be entertained!)

Well. That was quite a journey. And not to the center of the earth this time. Once more, The Rock showes us he can make a bad fall watchable, dare I say, enjoyable?
I know that this is not really a "good" movie, but dam did I enjoy it. I laughed, I groaned, I shouted at the TV about the sheer "in your face science!" of the logic. And I had a good time doing it.
As bad movies go, this one is a gooden!

What an interesting book! I guess I could describe myself best as a skpetic...it's not that I don't believe. I've seen the power of prayer works it's magic, but I've also seen many unanswered prayers too. This book made me believe just a little bit more. How can one question the logic & sincerity of a 4 year old?
This book is normally not my style, but it was a wonderful story, made all the more interesting by the fact that it really happened. If nothing else check it out for that purpose alone. You don't have to believe to take something from this book.

"There’s something about formalism that’s a little bit like music, and you can lose yourself in the joy of it when you make movies because it’s so much fun. This is one of those very rare subzero love stories, but it works because it’s like modernist poetry. It’s like when you have really hot food and you put it in the freezer and then you taste a little bit and you can sense that it was really hot but it’s been chilled down. Formalism doesn’t get any better than this, and every time I think about associative logic, this film is what I am thinking of."

I was surprised by this book. It was nowhere near what I thought it would be. The plot follows a girl who is all logic and no imagination. Luckily she has a friend who is the exact opposite. With her friends help and the help of a mysterious boy they fight off an evil witch and find the book.

I was impressed by the plot but the length made the story difficult to read. I found myself bored at some points and wanting to skip ahead. While those who enjoy witch books may enjoy this one it just wasn't for me. Maybe if it had been more compact I would have found more enjoyment.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review. The opinions are entirely my own, and any quotes are taken from the ARC and may be different in the final published copy.

I enjoy brain teasers, mysteries, and puzzles. I enjoy the satisfaction you get when figuring something out that made you have to think. Too often, we just Google an answer and do not have to figure it out for ourselves. 60-Second Brain Teasers Pencil-Free Puzzles: Short Head-Scratchers from the Easy to Near Impossible by Nathan Haselbauer makes you think and is not a book to read in one sitting. Your brain would hurt too much if you did.

Haselbauer includes an array of puzzles that involves logic and some thought to figure out the puzzles. Some of them stumped me. None were too easy.

The puzzles varied in difficulty and process to solve them. Some are logic-based; others involve math. Either way, they are a fun way to use your brain and pass the time.

This book is reminiscent of the Dell Pencil Puzzles and Word Games I enjoyed so much while growing up. It would be perfect for a road trip or a family gathering.

Several reviewers suggested it helped their children start using their brains again to get ready for back to school.

It is part of a series of 60-Second Brain Teasers published by Fair Winds Press.

FINALLY

Rory not marrying Logan. WHY? I don't understand her logic of saying no.
The writers are ever so cruel to Lane, she finally becomes her own person and BANG she's pregnant. She finds out when shes like 3 weeks pregnant too, hmmm.
Chris and Lor marrying? Ughh what a waste of time.
Amoung the negativity there is however, some AWESOME moments.
Ended how it began, the kiss, (finally!!), rory finally makes friends other than Paris and Lane (again, finally) and Paris's work has paid off.
Ending was good but again, Rory saying no wasn't the right choice in my mind.

Well paced nonsense BUT it's the most entertaining of the series
Clearly the product of the post Star Wars universe, Airport joined the ranks of James Bond in cashing in on the science fiction/action cinema of the late seventies. Unlike Moonraker, this at least tries to maintain some "science fact", just misses the mark somewhat.

Though having said that, most of us are much more knowledgeable about airline proceedures than we were back in 1979 and this film just rides roughshod over most of them!

A long fall from grace from that original just nine years earlier...

Co-operative puzzle fun
I am not a fan of real-time games. My daughter however loves this logic puzzle real-time game. So she asks to play it quite a bit. It is a co-operative game where you fulfill cupcake orders together. Well you match the cupcake liners anyway. It is a very cute game, the colors are distinct enough we haven't gotten them mixed up. This may not be a color-blind friendly game, but the cupcake liners are different sizes as well, so that may be enough to make a difference. Overall, there is not much to dislike, but everyone has differing tastes. For our family this one will stick around.

1 of my favourite movies of all time!
This is a masterpiece and a classic.

The writing is spot on, the acting and cast are perfect and could never be replaced if there was ever talk of a remake (please dont)

The idea to have the time machine as a car was genius. I know the initial idea was a refrigerator which would have been weird so I'm happy they changed their mind. The effects of going up to 88 miles per hour and see the light flash in front of the delorian before it speeds through time was impressive. They got the look of the 50s spot on.

Michael j fox and Christopher lloyd give excellent performances. Their characters are lovable, fun and just perfect. Crispin Glover is as weird as ever but great as George while lea Thompson was also great Lorraine but not as believable as an older version of herself.Tom Wilson was perfect as the bully biff and was shocked not to see him in more stuff afterwards.

The plot is great. Go back in time, make sure your parents get together to make sure your born. This was great chance for many funny scenes involving Marty and his parents. But this is where the logic didn't make sense. He went through all this so why don't his parents remember him from when they were younger.

If you ain't seen this before, where have you been? It's a classic and a must see for anyone. It's funny, it's charming and it's geeky at times.
