Rodney Barnes (472 KP) rated Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) in Movies

Another Good Anthology
Contains spoilers, click to show
I must say despite the protest for this movie for the last...well you know; I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. The characters were spot on. Donald Glover did the best job in my opinion. The story was good, Han looking for his lost love may have been a little stretch at that point in his career but it worked. The one thing I didn't like was the way Han and Chewy met. I know they wouldn't do it like the old canon, which would have been hard to do but I wish it could have been done a little different. Aside from the this movie met my expectations, as a Star Wars fan. I even liked the way they incorporated Lando's sidekick droid into the Falcon. We can now understand it's really a she. The part that excited me most was the ending. That was very unexpected for me. One of my favorite Sith Lords of all time made a showing. Darth Maul!! I hope this story arc continues with him in future anthology movies. This movie is a solid 8 for me. We will see what the future holds for more movies like this

does anyone else find it annoying when people rate books they haven't actually read yet?
update: now that I'VE read this i can review it properly. (see how that works, people? read a book THEN rate it. i know, complicated.)
i loved this book. i would have given it 5 stars but i honestly thought it was too short. there were places that Kvothe skipped over his story that, as an outsider looking in as opposed to a character in the novel (like Chronicler) we haven't heard the rumors or stories or gossip about the events. i would have LOVED to have heard the story about the shipwreck, especially the mysterious man. it was quite frustrating to have something with so much potential tossed aside. also, i would have appreciated a bit more of the trial in Imre. at least a third or fourth hand account of it, the version of the story Chronicler heard.
alternatively, the time spent with Felurian was beaten to death, in my opinion, and Kvothe's time in Ademre was a bit drawn out. probably something to do with the publisher's wanting more sex, i expect. sigh.
still, i puffy heart love this series and will probably buy it once it's all in paperback.

Trevor makes the game for me.
This is my favorite GTA game so far. I know that sounds ridiculous, of course it is, but I LOVE the story line in this one. There is something about the ease of moving between the main characters, their skill sets, and of course the way they interact, kept me wanting to move the story along and having to remember that I needed to do side quests for money and other things.
In particular, Trevor made the game for me. Steven Ogg is a tremendous actor and his voice being lent to the character of Trevor Phillips was perfect casting. I want a pre-GTA5 game where I get to play as Trevor for the whole game.
The multiplayer is my stumbling block. I like it, I get the attraction, but it has not hooked me. I have played a little in it, I enjoy the race series but that is about all.
I am looking forward to the next GTA game already.

The NPCs
The building aspect
The weapon and armor customization
So darn close to EPIC!
Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games that I have ever played. Somewhere between the building, the story, the side-missions, and the combat system - I was in love from moment one.
Now, a bit of a confession: this was the first Fallout game that I ever played. I am going to have to start working my way backwards through the series.
If you are new to this franchise, here is what to expect:
1. The story is interesting, in depth, and more than a little thought provoking.
2. The combat system is very straight forward and easy to use.
3. The building system is also top notch and once you get a handle on being a professional hoarder - you will become a builder extraordinaire.
4. Power-Armor is cool but it got old for me so I saved it only to use for big fights.
Also, due to the multiple endings for the game, there is a lot of chance for replay and using really cool mods to make the game different all the time.

Moke J Dupman (12 KP) rated Humanarium (Book One in the Humanarium Series) in Books

One of the best books I read this summer
Best book I’ve read in months! Humanarium by C. W. Tickner is an imaginative, well told story. I love the characters and the plot shows depth on many levels. The book is complete with heroes, bad guys, unfamiliar worlds, excitement, and just a dollop of romance. I also appreciate very much how Mr. Tickner incorporates unity among humans who are sometimes quite different from one another into the story. Some scenes were especially good, such as the return journey thru Drew’s tank. Movie worthy, indeed!
Parts of the story remind me of how humans often keep wild animals as pets for their personal enjoyment when they would be much better off left in their own environment. You’ll see why when you read it...no spoilers from me!
I’m left just intrigued enough to get me to want to read the next book. Going into more detail would give away too much, but there are some mysteries that I hope will be answered in books to follow. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to Mr. Tickner’s next release! All in all, I found Humanarium to be thoroughly fascinating and enjoyable and give it a rating of 4.7/5 ⭐️

Grammatical errors. (2 more)
More grammatical errors.
Missing character backgrounds.
A great read but also not a great read.
I received Dragon Wing by Rebecca Busch as a read and review copy from Austin Macauley Publishers for my full honest review.
I was really wanting to love this book and give a five-star rating, but there were so many grammatical errors that it honestly killed me at times to read. Don't get me wrong, the storyline was wonderful and I loved it but with the grammatical errors, the whole book was lacking and seemed like a Wattpad story. (Now there is nothing wrong with Wattpad stories. But when you get an actual physical copy or even digital copy of a book, you kind of hold it at a higher standard compared to reading a story that is only published online.) With that being said, I could only give this story a 3-star rating due to the lack of editing Dragon Wing went through. If it was edited properly, I would say this could have easily been a 4 to a 4.5 star read. But the errors take away from some of the plot, causing it to be boring and way too difficult to read.

4.5 Stars!!
May Sage is such a fabulous author! She knows just how to pull the reader right into the story from the first sentence. Wordless is a start to a whole new series. It is about a world ran by vampires, and it is hot and everything a vampire novel should be!
Fay is the protagonist of the story. She is being used as a sex slave by the vampires, but this all changes when William shows up. She is a smart and kind woman who wants to break free of her chains and love her own life. William is a sexy vampire who is also kind and treats Fay like an actual person. There are quite a few side characters who are all equally lovable and have the potential for their own books!
Sage has really built up a wonderful new world. My only complaint would be the story felt just a tiny bit rushed, but maybe it is just because I wanted to read more!
All in all, I cannot wait to read the next book to the series, Worthless! May Sage is definitely going places with her work. :)

Black Snow (Birds of a Feather #4) by Lena North
Black Snow is the fourth book in the Birds of a Feather series, and we find out more about Snow, who featured in Jinx' book. She has her own story which she keeps hidden from the majority of people. It turns out that she is not the only one with secrets though, which she finds out to her cost. What should have been an easy assignment quickly turns into something much more.
I loved this book! Not only because of the characters I have grown to know and love throughout this series, but I was also introduced to some of the characters that feature in Seaborn, which was the book that introduced me to Lena North and made me (arm twisted behind my back, I tell you!) buy these.
I am thoroughly enjoying the overall story arc that flows from one book to the next, getting a bit more each time. I can't wait to see where it goes next. With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, I have no hesitation in recommending this great story!

Merissa (13329 KP) rated Collide (Shock Me, #3) in Books

*Disclaimer* I received this book from Barclay Publicity in return for a fair and honest review.
Wow! This book will take you on a rollercoaster of a journey. In fact, scrap that, this SERIES will take you for a ride. I'm not going to go into the story - that's what the synopsis is for and as this is book 3 in the series, you've probably already got some idea of what's happening anyway.
As for Collide, it is one step forwards, two steps back - that is the unfortunate love story between Donna and Ryan and I really, REALLY want them to get a HEA but I'm not totally sure they will. They both have a lot of secrets and life... plus Ryan's father... keeps getting in the way of them being honest with each other.
This story is woven with such skill and lots of other strands are highlighted in this book - for example, Rebecca and Randy to name just two, along with Gemma, David and Lynn plus others.
This is part of a series and each book does end with a cliffhanger so fair warning - you will be left gobsmacked and wanting the next book immediately. A brilliant addition to the Young Adult, Science Fiction, Paranormal Romance genres. Highly recommended.

Merissa (13329 KP) rated Asya in the Tilt of the World in Books
Dec 17, 2018
Asya in the Tilt of the World is the first book in The Asya Trilogy. Asya is a quiet girl, studious, and loves working in the garden. Her family is very different from her, being loud and boisterous most of the time. Her world changes one evening as she meets with James and Christian. From there it becomes everything she never dreamed of.
The premise of this book is a good one, and I love how some vampires are working for the benefit of the earth, and others aren't, plus how credit is given for past 'inventions'. There are some well developed characters that help draw the story along.
Although I enjoyed this story, I didn't really feel a connection between our three main characters. There were questions raised about how she reacted to them, versus how she reacted to others, that just didn't seem to fit. This may be a story that will build up, but be prepared to be left with plenty of questions after reading this book.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *
