King at his best
This is one of the first Stephen King books I remember reading, probably when I was far too young at around the age of 10/11, if not earlier. I loved it then, I loved it the handful of times I've picked it up over the past 2 decades and having decided to read it again this week, I still love it.

King is my favourite author, and it's books like this that really highlight why. I've never before known an author who can bring such detail and intrigue into 20 different short stories, even those stories that are only a few pages long. He's a master storyteller and this book is a great example. Every single story is engaging and filled with horror, telling you just enough to leave you satisfied and not feeling like you're missing out and with a well developed plot and characters.

Out of these 20 short stories, I'd only highlight one of these that is maybe weaker than the rest: 'The Woman in the Room' and this isn't bad, just more that it's lacking in the horror that the rest of the stories have and it's a shame because this is the final story. But aside from this every single story is a brilliant read and if you ever want to find a place to start reading Stephen King, without tackling his major epic novels, there's no finer place to start than this.

Never unwatchable, but I'm getting tired of suggesting that there should be more horror in these horror movies, you feel? Far superior than your average thin-metaphor-instead-of-actual-story-with-next-to-no-scares A24 wannabe clone that I'm shocked we're still seeing in 2021. The lead guy is really excellent, it's aesthetically pleasing, and those practical effects are a riot and a half... but as you can probably guess it feels the need to get into the groove of "1. long stretch of familiar story 2. quick horror tease" on endless loop. Though thankfully that story is actually half-decent, if not ultimately enough to deliver on its sensational gold mine premise. I liked a whole lot about this but it just starts to drag its feet after so long, there's only a finite amount of times I can be walked through the same "nobody believes me..." setups these all have while there's literal witches, murderous parents, and neat character premises right there which never get built upon. Admirable for what it is, and thankfully it nixes the boring, faux-intellectual pretention these films love to flaunt - but still nearly misses out on working.


(EDIT: Sat on it for a while, can't help but give it a pass - perhaps given that I didn't have high expectations for it going in? It's just way too engaging for what it is to scold it *too* much).

I found a sweet book about a little girl and a baby lamb. This story is a sweet one. Though I think mostly about compassion and how being unique and special. What will happen to this baby sheep that is born and makes a connection with a little girl?

Will Mia find a special job that will help keep her on the farm? Will Grandma sell her as she thinks. Mia seems quite attached to Nattie. The story seems to show you that small and little that they can help when they find the right job or special thing they are good at.

The pictures are done well. They are cute. The pictures are what makes me turn the pages. They seem drawn well. Mia does some special care for Nattie. You will be surprised what Nattie's special magic or talent is.

This book shows what teamwork is or can be. It doesn't always have to be two kids or two people that do the teamwork. That was seen in this book.

This book is good for those that have children that love farm animals and or animals in general. It teaches and also shows that some animals can be calming and stress relievers without being with others. What a lovely story about a little girl and a baby sheep. What a good book to pick up. Children can learn about teamwork and caring for baby animals.
