Mindblowing
Every Rogan's podcast is unique. He invites all sorts of personas, from Elon Musk, through Neil DeGrass Tyson to Russel Brand. He interviews biologist, scientists and fighters. Hiss MMA specials are headings towards fighters and their stories, fights that are about to happen and breakdown of precious ones. You always learn something new from different topics. I would recommend it to anyone who seeks some extra knowledge.

Forgettable. Starts off by threatening nuance by way of off-kilter dark comedy but then devolves into exactly what you'd think this was going to be: "lol fat guy got hit then fell down" again... and again... and again... and again. The only movie Hayek had less of a palpable role in than this was 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵. As expected Winkler is the best part. Joe Rogan comes in as himself for one scene and explains MMA fighting to the James character. Dullsville.

Yes this does kinda add up to The Karate Kid for the Youtube generation, with an MTV makeover. This time using MMA basically like UFC, cage fighting using any fighting style. Despite the obvious plot and seeing this type of film more than a few times, this is pretty decent. It has a strong cast and the fight scenes are well shot. There is an extra on the DVD to get each of the fights in the film broken down into how they were filmed etc which is pretty good.

Let's go to war!
I'm always weary of sporting films especially a new boxing or in this case MMA film but Warrior is a cut above the rest. As stated above, the best part of the film is Hardy, Edgerton and Nolte, their characters have such depth and all have a personal and tragic obstacle to tackle. I found the filming and the setting of the Burgh (Pittsburgh) to be a perfect touch. The films is emotional in multiple places and this is heightened by a excellently selected soundtrack from The National. One to watch again and again. Love it.

a great step out of my comfort zone!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
A step out of my comfort zone, but a very welcome one!
Jack is from London, but has relocated clear across the globe after *something* happened. He and his partner are now tasked with finding out where the missing MMA fighter is, and who killed the trainer.
Jack is. . .interesting! He's not a perfect detective, not by any means, but I think, in his own way, his heart is in the right place. In JACK's right place, you know? Lots of hints and clues and titbits abotu what happened in London to send him running to Australia, but I didn't get the FULL picture, not really. And I really really want it! I think, this might be the only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars, was because I wasn't putting the clues and hints together well enough.
Oh, wait, no. there was another point I want to make. Claudia, Jack's partner, gets a chapter. Just the one. And I wanted more of her, or none of her. that one chapter had my hopes up of a dual point of view, and it's not, not really. One chapter is a tease! So in future books, can we have MORE Claudia, please??
The case of the MMA fighter and missing trainer is well laid out, and I wasn't sure which way it was gonna go til the end, so I was fully engaged and kept on my toes. Thoroughly kept on my toes, if I'm honest and that's a rare thing these days!
This is a step out of my comfort zone, I tend to mostly stick to romance of some description, so the blurb most have grabbed something at me for me to request it. I have not a clue what that was, but I'm very pleased it did.
I'd like to follow Jack and Claudia, they are good together!
4 good solid stars

'You should not think of her as a woman. That would be a mistake.'
Rousing action thriller looks on paper like another Besson movie, is actually typically classy Steven Soderbergh genre pastiche. Basically a vehicle for delicate flower of women's MMA Gina Carano to batter the living daylights out of an array of A-list leading men, which she does with aplomb and charisma.
The script is sympathetically structured so Carano doesn't have to do more than the minimal amount of actual acting, but the plot is competently twisty-turny and Soderbergh puts an impressive cast around his star. Some first-class fight sequences and chases, as you would expect. At the time I had my fingers crossed for a new subgenre of pro-celebrity martial arts movies with Carano proceeding to kick in Jude Law, Orlando Bloom, Ryan Reynolds, etc, in subsequent outings, but it never happened. Shame; notable careers have been built on considerably less potential than Carano showed in this film.

A delicious dirty erotic romance about two people discovering themselves again and healing.
I am going to be honest, by the time I made it to this book on my NetGalley list, I was about 1000% done with people who had something happen in their past that broke them and they put themselves back together as best they could. However, I have a thing for MMA fighters (maybe because my fiancé was one?) so I still requested this novel.
I am glad I did because Fighting for Control is a helluva intense novel with a heroine I could definitely get behind. I actually admired her a lot. She was such a strong and passionate woman, it was hard not to like her. And, despite his issues, I genuinely enjoyed Nikko too. I definitely could see why she fell for him.
While the whole woman trying to heal PTSD Alpha male is not even close to be a new or fresh trope, Price told it in a way that it was still enjoyable. If this type of story is your thing, then you will love this novel.

Mumble Mumble Mumbe Part 1
Lets get all of the 80's action stars and throw them into a movie. Will Bruce and Arnold be in it, nope well for only 1min and 30secs. Yes you heard that correctly two of the biggest action stars only get 1min and 30sec screen time cameo with Sly. Making jokes and one-liners. So whats the plot then.
The Plot: A group of mercenaries is double-crossed during a mission and are approached by Church to overthrow the ruthless dictator of a South American country. It isn't long before the men realise things aren't quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of betrayal. Although their mission is compromised and an innocent is in danger, soldier of fortune Barney and his comrades decide to get the job done.
Also the charcter names are really weird but intresting and predictable. Like Lee Christmas, Gunner Jensen, Yin Yang, Hale Caesar, Toll Road, Toll and Mr. Church.
All of 80's stars are here like Dolph Lundren who, ohh the russian guy from rocky 4 and Randy Couture who, oh a retired MMA fighting.
Its a funny, action movie and will have a good time watching.
