A little different
Something a little different, acting from the main bad guy leaves a lot to be desired. Main female character is a crack shot until she goes up against Radcliffe then cant seem to hit a thing, ironically when they team up she's a crack shot again and for a few magical moments so is Radcliffe. Shoddy storyline with enjoyable moments. I'd still give it a watch just to say you've seen it.

"Beautiful and full of monsters, all the best stories are"

boy oh boy oh boy was this book beautiful (and full of monsters) and magical I was so captivated by the story and the land that I can completely understand how Lazlo got so caught up in the city of Weep.

If you're looking for an epic high fantasy I highkey recommend this one. It will touch your soul in new and exciting ways. Laini Taylor is a genius!!!

"It has a strange beauty about it. It has a deceptively simple story. It has all the classic trademarks of someone who introduces you to a special, magical world, and yet you are able to then see your own world completely differently. There’s always something slightly uncanny about what Powell and Pressburger did — if you think about The Red Shoes or The Tales of Hoffman, and things later like Peeping Tom, films like that. They’re just extraordinary."

"Charles Laughton’s only film as director, scripted by James Agee from the book by Davis Grubb. It’s a fairy-tale version of a crime-suspense drama, as two children are pursued through a magical, haunted landscape by a demented yet canny preacher (Robert Mitchum). There’s a grown-up story about a stash of stolen money, but Laughton’s masterstroke is to ignore that and present the human monster from the children’s point of view, as a remorseless bogeyman."
