Watched a new Netflix original called "Tau". It's a sci-fi thriller about a girl (Maika Monroe) kidnapped by a scientist to experiment on her, coding AI from peoples emotions. She escapes his prison but ends up stuck in his house under the scientist's watch with the assistance of his AI controlled house. Very good acting and story. The effects were pretty impressive and the cinematography was very well done. Netflix continues to make very good original content. Worth a watch!

Dont Have Sex
It Follows- is a very underrated film, that not of people have seen.
The plot: After carefree teenager Jay (Maika Monroe) sleeps with her new boyfriend, Hugh (Jake Weary), for the first time, she learns that she is the latest recipient of a fatal curse that is passed from victim to victim via sexual intercourse. Death, Jay learns, will creep inexorably toward her as either a friend or a stranger. Jay's friends don't believe her seemingly paranoid ravings, until they too begin to see the phantom assassins and band together to help her flee or defend herself.
Its scary, terrorfying, spooky, horroryfying, myserious, thrilling and more.
A highly reccordmend film.

The first one - quite frankly - is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, this one is infinitely better by most conceivable metrics... but that isn't exactly high praise when the improvements here include such low bars as "stuff actually happens in this one" or "it's slightly less punishingly unwatchable". How (sub)standard most of Emmerich's movies are continues to bewilder me, as with this series for instance he essentially has carte blanche to do anything but chooses to frame them within the confines of the most nothing, clichéd disaster movie template - I swear I've seen this film like 50 times already at the very least. I mean I didn't care about the original's story or characters at all to begin with but good Lord he adds absolutely nothing to them with this. Tbh this one's monochrome sci-fi palette looks somewhat neat and there's actual shot composition going on here... but for alleged visual showcases these films really don't insist on their visuals near enough for some confounding reason, do they? And every performance in the pilot crew or whatever straight-up sucks. Maika Monroe deserves so much better. The stuff at the end with the queen running through the desert was lowkey kind of awesome though.

Solid script (2 more)
Some sweet sweet murder
The best twist fuck ending in a long time
What in the mind fucking hell went on here
Simon Barrett and Adam Wingard are a pair of my favorite writer director teams in the history of mumblecore movies... theu have an I don' give a shit attitude that oozes through each kill in every movie they make. From the demented serial killings in A Horrible Way to Die to the revenge filled destruction of mercenaries and spiteful children in You're Next. And this movie is no different....
I wouldn't exactly call it a horror film by label, but the killing is so over the top bloody and disturbing that I suppose it is horrific.
Dan Stevens portrayal of Army boy David is spot on... emotionless and cold to the view. He renders each murder with a purpose... even those final few near the end. Even though they were brutal and harsh. They explained how sick and twisted he truly is.
Maika Monroe is solid as well. Anna makes you feel pity for all the things sshe is going through. Her personal life is a mess and her family life is no better...
This movie is not what I thought it was going to be. It was better than I expected and I will be watching it again. 9 enthusiastic severed heads out of 10
