"There are quite a few Neil Young albums I could have chosen, but Harvest I like because it's that combination of acoustic guitar and dry, heavy drums. That's a certain kind of special thing that he invented, and they're quite slow. 'Out On The Weekend' is a prime example of that kind of slow, purposeful rhythm with heavy acoustic guitars. My best friend from school, Desmond, who unfortunately is not with us anymore- there's a piece I wrote about him on the Quietus actually - he was a huge Neil Young fan, and he had all of the Neil Young records. We were so close that we never bought any record that the other had. I spent so much time around his place anyway, so if Desmond owned it, it was like me owning it. Again, what can you say about Neil Young? He's a classic artist. He flew in the face of quite a lot of things. I liked Crosby, Stills & Nash; I liked Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. There was a point when Crosby, Stills & Nash were uncool but Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were more cool, and Young was the most cool. There was a rumour that he'd left Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young because he'd figured out that he could make more money on his own. I actually think that's probably not true because I've read a little bit of stuff around that period. But Neil Young has remained singular. In theory I like everything he's ever done, although I haven't heard everything he's ever done. But certainly I've heard later work and really liked it as well. He's the important figure, as a contrary kind of figure."

"The record came out in October and Roc Marciano is like a national treasure, basically [laughs]. The record KAOS that we did together is just fucking ridiculous and I couldn't wait for it to drop. I wanted to include it because when I heard what Roc had done, I felt the same kind of excitement I felt with some of those early records which is rare for me. He's created a whole different style of subcultural, subversive music right now and he's undoubtedly one of my favourite MC's. His work is mad, original and extremely lyrical like GZA. Like every line he writes, you could make a fucking movie out of each one. To work with somebody, I've got to click with them and I've got to meet them and if it's cool, we do some music together. It has to be like that for me. I've worked with everybody I ever wanted to work with growing up and now, I really like picking artists and working with artists that aren't really well known but who do something extraordinary. This project was all just about getting up, creating art and having fun and just enjoying myself. I've been producing people's music my whole life and I've turned down working with a lot of big pop stars for a lot of money because I just like doing my own thing and it has to be right. I don't like making a beat for someone and just giving it away – it has to be something I love and something I enjoy, which is what this project was all about."

"Alex Guinness, to me is — forget De Niro, forget Pacino — he’s the man. Alec Guinness is such a quintessential English actor, but he’s also a brilliant actor. He’s just the best. And The Man in the White Suit is just such a beautiful, charming movie. It’s about a man who invents a suit that you don’t have to wash. It’s a whole movie about it! It’s something that some of the more flamboyant directors should think about remaking. [Laughs] It’s about this guy who invents this material that keeps white all the time. It’s directed by Alexander Mackendrick, a fellow Scot, and the opening title sequence is amazing. Mackendrick is a brilliant director. I just enjoy his work; I enjoy the pace of his work. I think he’s really overlooked. He did The Ladykillers and Whisky Galore, and The Sweet Smell of Success. A lot of really cool movies. Alec Guinness, to me — forget Star Wars and all that — he’s just the best. And to work with someone like Alexander Mackendrick, who really understood what a story meant…it’s funny, because on IMDB the movie is listed as sci-fi. It’s not sci-fi, that’s ridiculous! It’s actually a very nice tale, about inventing the thing that nobody wants. Like a car that doesn’t need petrol. The thing that people don’t want because of the money [the auto industry] could make off of you. If you say hey great, I’ve invented this car that doesn’t need petrol, and then there’s a silence, and then there’s a gunshot, and you’re dead. It’s that kind of thing."
