Ever wanted to learn about the human body in a fun and interesting way? Ever thought about personifying blood cells?

Probably not but Akane Shimizu did and wrote a cute, wholesome manga while doing it too!

Cells at Work Vol. 1 is the beginning of a short series that follows a new Red Blood Cell (RBC) as she tries to figure out how to do her job within a human body. While doing so, she meets other blood cells like a White Blood Cell and cute little Platelets while the human body get attacked by everyday things like the flu or a scrape on the knee.

This manga takes the human body and makes it very interesting. Each character, which represent a different cell within the body, comes with unique characteristics and traits that match what that cell does beautifully. You can tell that the writer took the time to look up what each cell did within the body and how to personify it and make it relatable without tarnishing the job that the cwll does.

I highly suggest this manga to anyone who is new to manga as it's a nice introduction into the genre especially since the series is so short. It's also light hearted (thus far, I only read the first volume!) And enjoyable to read.

Don't be a bully!
Manga is not my first choice of something I would pick up if I was browsing Waterstones. I did read Naruto when I was at school but I have never had a physical copy. It is only recently that I have been getting into anime because my other half watches a lot and I end up watching it with him; Fairy Tale, Dragonball Z and Full Metal Alchemist just to name a few.

So I decided to pick up something out of my comfort zone and give some proper manga a try.

This is the manga the movie, Edge of Tomorrow, or, Live, Die , Repeat was based off of. This source material is so good. Of course, there were differences, but I wasn't going to compare them.
I read this entire volume during a 3 hour flight, and absolutely loved it.

This is the manga version of Sword Art Online Aincrad. Players find out that they are trapped inside of a new RPG, and that if they die in the game, they also die in real life. There will be no exit button unless the big end boss is beaten.

Intriguing, fast- paced!
I have always been a huge fan of anime/ manga. So me just picking this up and reading it now, is absolutely insane. Especially with how long I've waited/ it's been sitting on my bookshelf.

Volume 2 of Erased immediately pulled me right back into the story. It's definitely gripping, considering it's a teen manga revolving around elementary school children, for the most part. I keep thinking that I know what will happen, but then some little detail changes the course of the story.

Predictable, but fun. Bad girl changes schools, meets her bad-boy homeroom teacher, and a fellow bad student. Although she is trying to start a new life at the new school, her old ways keep showing through. A typical shojo manga, but it's still a fun, quick read, nonetheless.

Like most times, the manga was better. The movie did a decent job of following the books' storyline, but it did leave a bunch of things out. Nothing overly important, but they were things that add to the story. Overall, it was still a good movie version of the story.

I liked the manga much better. The movie gave the main points, though.

If your not used to the manga tradition of reading back to front this can be slightly confusing to start with but once you are used to it becomes easier. The book is well designed and beautifully illustrated though out and brings new life to classic works of Edgar Allan Poe.
