"In the recent documentary Gerhard Richter Painting, the painter speaks at length about being a young artist emerging in post–World War II Germany. He says that he always considered painting to be nothing more than a trade that one dedicates oneself to day after day. Working is, above all, very respectable. Perhaps this attitude can be attributed to the fact that postwar Germans were faced with the arduous (but perhaps liberating) task of writing a new history for themselves—trying to come to terms with the past while simultaneously looking toward the future and the endless possibilities therein. With such daunting business at hand, a workhorse spirit would be a must for all German artists. Fassbinder most definitely had that spirit, leaving behind forty feature-length films and playing countless other roles over the course of his short career. Lola alludes to some of these particular pressures and concerns. Lola herself is a woman with a troubled past pressing forward with her life. It is a great, classic story, and a lot can be read into it. But on a purely aesthetic level, Lola is a sumptuous visual journey. So many textures and colors . . . if Zéro de conduite is a Dadaist masterpiece and The Scarlet Empress is expressionism on film, Lola is pure Technicolor pop art, and one of the best late Fassbinder films. Coincidentally, Rainer Werner Fassbinder died the day before I was born."

What a journey...
What can I say about this game? Apart from the fact that the trilogy is a masterpiece of modern gaming.

I must admit that after the first game, which was enjoyable but somewhat repetitive, that I bought way back shortly after release way back I didn't play an Assassin's Creed game until late last year, where I began the whole game franchise from the start.

After getting through the original as quickly as possible, I bought The Ezio Collection cheap, not expecting anything too groundbreaking. Boy was I wrong!

Ezio's story is incredible. With everything from hilarity to heartbreak, every emotion is in there, with voice performances making it feel all the more real.

Also included in the collection are two short films, a prologue and an epilogue, which are absolutely superb (and certainly provide closure)!

With so many improvements added since the original it was a whole new game, which paved the way for so many brilliant games.

I have now played every AC game currently available on the PlayStation 4 (including Valhalla, loved every one), but the only one in the series to match the quality of this game so far in my opinion is Odyssey. I believe this says a lot about the trilogy, as there have now been 11 games in the series since the last of the trilogy, which is a rather impressive feat!

Keep up the good work, Ubisoft!

Not Enough Conflict For Me
A director is forced to confront his past when an old flame shows up.

Acting: 10

Beginning: 4

Characters: 10

Cinematography/Visuals: 10
From a cinematic standpoint, I dare call the movie a masterpiece, or this portion of it rather. Love the way the movie unfolds on screen. Regardless of how I feel about the movie as a whole, it is visually beautiful.

Conflict: 2

Entertainment Value: 7

Memorability: 8
This movie is full of poignant cinematic moments that remain etched in your brain. Director Pedro Almodovar has an extreme talent for capturing just the right moment in time that is perfect. It is like watching a beautiful dream unfold.

Pace: 7

Plot: 5
There is a story here, but too often it felt aimless. This was one of the biggest misses for me, the fact that I could never really get a good grasp on where this movie was going. I was hoping for more of an arrowed directive.

Resolution: 6
Decent ending, but again I felt like there was something lacking here. I was hoping for more closure for Salvador (Antonio Banderas) the main character. It didn’t feel like the proper sum to its parts.

Overall: 69
Heartfelt, Pain and Glory certainly means well. I can see what it was trying to do, but I felt like the execution could have been much better. A stronger story most certainly would have sold me.
